I am going to a backyard wedding this weekend and am wondering what the gifting etiquette is for this type of wedding. My fiance and I are both going and the groom is a close friend of my fiance and I have known him and his wife since we were in middle school. I don't want to give too little but I also don't want to give too much, as my own wedding is next week and every penny is counting at this point. Any thoughts?
I wouldn't give them a gift based on where the wedding is...I would base it on your relationship with them. If they are invited to your wedding you will probably just get the same amount back anyway. I usually give at least 300.
The venue does not matter to me as much as how close I am to the bride or groom. Are they invited to your wedding next week? I know sometimes it sounds terrible, but you get what you give, but that's just my opinion.
I think you should give a normal amount. I wouldn't give a different gift just because it was in a backyard.

My really good friend (I was in her BP) got married last July in her backyard and I gave the amount I would've given her if they had it in a hall.
My good friend got married a few weeks ago in her backyard in Massachusetts. I gave her what I would have given her if it was at a place. Enjoy-we had such a good time at the last backyard wedding we went to!
