I had my final dress fitting and the bride next to me was in her gown and had her veil on and the parents of the bride asked the steamstress if the veil was too puffy. the steamstress said yes that it was a little much. then further stated that she thought her necklace was too flashy for her dress. ( the brides dress had silver bead work) b/c the dress was flashy enough. My fmil had to add that she agreed and furthermore the earring should go as well as the crown. 'less is more' she said to the bride and then added you don't want to look like a xmas tree on your wedding day. the poor bride's spirit was so broken. I was soo embrassed. I told my fmil that I agreed with her but it wasn't our place to say anything. my fmil said well, someone had to tell her.

Re: BAD BAD
That's terrible! If she wanted to look like a christmas tree that was her decision - we all have different ideas about what looks good! Poor girl

Re: BAD BAD
yeah, that would probably crush my spirit too. you're so vulnerable at fittings...hoping it fits right, imagining the day of, etc....that must have hurt!

Re: BAD BAD
Awwhhh. But you you know what, when I went on my final fitting I tried different necklaces on with the dress and my seamstress told me not to wear any of them becuase 'it would take away from the dress'. I agreed with her. Sometimes you get so caught up in 'what necklace should I wear' or 'what looks good with what' that you get carried away and buy everything. I returned all the necklaces, which was good because it saved me about $150. It's true, sometimes less is more.

Re: BAD BAD
that does sound rather sucky, but if it were me i think I would want someone to tell me if i was about to do something that wouldnt be flattering. I would hate for everyone around me to keep their mouth shut and then when i look at the pictures be like 'who the heck let me out of the house wearing that'...i think it would be worse
