Well, I suffer from panic disorder and a few weeks ago they became so bad I had to take 2 weeks off from work (short term disability). I went back to work but they are still pretty frequent. They make me physically ill....I throw up, etc. I asked my boss if I can work 3 days a week for a month or so and she was so uncompassionate and rude. She told me 'you look fine, I dont understand what is wrong with you'. Than I told her if its that much of a big deal that I will put in my notice, and she said 'do what you have to do, I dont care.' I was hysterically crying on the phone while she was saying these things. How ignorant can you be to say, 'you look fine, I dont see anything wrong with you'?
I cant lose my job now b/c I am closing on my house in a couple of week and getting married in 2 months. I def. want to look for a new job (I've been thinking about it for awhile), but it is hard now b/c I will need off for my honeymoon. Need some hugs!!!!

For a case like this, I would definitely suggest getting some sort of written statement from your doctor. Most people with any type of mental illness 'look' fine, that's why so many people go untreated. I feel deeply for you, as someone who has suffered panic disorder as well. Good luck and start looking for that new job!

she can't fire you b/c of your disability it's illegal.
according to FMLA you can exhaust up to twelve weeks or any part thereof for disability leave.
talk to your HR dept. they will be able to give you more infomation on the what you have in your company guide about what the rules are for your company.
By the way i would report your manager.

Re: Bad day....need your support and hugs
I have had a couple of those before in the past so I know how bad that is. I am soo sorry your boss is not compassionate towards you. Some people just don't get it and may have to be explained. I am sure the wedding is making it worse..I hope you can relax on your honeymoon and maybe that will help!

Re: Bad day....need your support and hugs
I am sorry that you are going through this. I know first hand how you feel. The same thing happened to me last year and I ended up having to change my hours at work. So now I work still my 5 days a week but I work 7am to 3pm....still my 8 hours but it seems with me as weird as it is my panic and anxiety happens more in the afternoons. I did get a note from my Dr which I definitly think helped me out with my hours. You have to do what you have to do, if people have not been through what you go through they cant understand how you feel. No one knows at my job what my real reason is for my special hours as they call it because I had the Dr write the note as private as possible. I hope you get some relief soon, cause I know what your feeling is not fun. FM me if you ever wanna talk......

Re: Bad day....need your support and hugs
That is horrible. Unofortunately, I suffer from panic and anxiety attacks occasionally. It has never been so bad that i havent been able to go to work, I usually get them at night. Someone i know had the same problem as you did and believe they were able to do some kind of disability. I would definitely check with your HR dept if you have one. Good Luck to you, feel free to FM me if you ever need to vent or anything.....

Totally agree...This absolutely falls within the category of discrimination...She should be fired!

What a mean boss. I would also suggest talking to your doctor about this. You can make it at least until after the honeymoon.
Then it will all be worth it!

Re: Bad day....need your support and hugs
i know it may seem hard.. but dont quit ur job just yet.... it can affect the purchase of ur house.. i work for a law firm and we have seen deals die because people get fired, or quit from there jobs a few weeks before closing then the banks find out and cancel the deal because of this.. so try to hold off until after u close on ur house.. then send ur boss to HE**
