Bad Dress Shopping Experience

Bad Dress Shopping Experience

I need to vent...sry its long!!!

I have found THE DRESS at BR and went to try it on today again to make sure it was THE DRESS. I had an issue deciding on whether to get heels or flats and I need to make the decision for the extra length. We had finally decided it was THE DRESS and that I was going to run to a shoe store they recommended to see if I could find any shoes I liked. I would come back to get the H2H measurement with the shoes and order the dress. I was then told there was no seamstress in the store today so I couldn't get measured for the dress today anyway.. so it seemed simple enough that I'd come back and order the dress when I found THE SHOES.

As we are ready to leave the person who I believe is the mgr comes over to tell me that today is the last day to order the dress with the discount because the trunk sale is ending. This was the first time they ever metioned the discount or the trunk show to me so this was a surprise to me. My mom had gotten the postcard about the trunk sale in the mail so she knew about it and thought it was over at a later date so I checked the site on my phone and it actually ends on Tuesday. So we ask them about that and then they tell me yes, but you have to get the order in by today to get the discount, so I ask why they adverstise the sale ending two days later when it really doesn't end on that date. So they said I have until Tuesday but the dress has to go back to the manufacturer Tuesday so they are boxing them up Monday so I need to place the order today.. So then I get annoyed because no one ever said anything about the dress not belonging to the store or that I only have a limited time to be able to try it on when I was in there the first time trying it on. Then I question that and the girl runs back and tells me the dress belongs to the store. So they finally told me I could place the order by Tuesday and do the measurements another time but were not very nice about that.

Its one thing to push a sale, but its another thing to just lie to a customer over and over again when its clear that I had the right information.

I had every intention of buying the dress there and now I'm going somewhere else. I can't spend money in a store and be confident that they won't lie about anything else when it comes the THE DRESS.

Re: Bad Dress Shopping Experience

BR was the first store I went to to begin my dress shopping experience, and let me tell you I know exactly how you feel.

I am happy you decided to take your business somewhere else because a store does not deserves business when they have poor business ethics and customer service.

I have a 17 person bridal party (excluding the groom's side). Not that I began my shopping thinking this would give me better service than someone else but I figured that whoever was helping me would realize the potential of business they would be earning if I decided to get all of the dresses in one place.

Well....after the sales associate told me that my dream dress took longer to come in than it actually does, she continued to tell me that they didn't want me shopping around so when I was ready to commit we could talk price. After this the associate helping with my bridal party dresses told me after I was unsatisfied with the color options they had to offer in the limited amount of dresses to chose from she says...'i don't know how to really say this but you'll probably never find the exact color you are looking for'. After hearing this I had enough.

I've gone to 4 more bridal saloons since and believe I have found MY DRESS!!

I have to say Village Bridal in Babylon has phenomenal customer service. I will be getting my dress from them. They are just amazing, non stuck uo, friendly, and helpful.

Re: Bad Dress Shopping Experience

ugh, im sorry

I hate BR, the people there are so stuffy and I never had a good experience there

im glad you decided to go to another store...not sure if youve gone to village bridal or if they carry your dress...but they do not make comission there so they are much nicer to work with

and both times I went there, I asked for a trunk show discount (15%) without there being any trunk show at the time and both times they had no problem giving it to me

I think most bridal stores will give you the 15% if you ask

I also had a horrible experience at BR. I was looking for a lace dress, and the manager told me I would never find what I was lokoing for in my price range. NEedless to say, I went to 2 other places, and there were plenty of dresses I LOVED in my price range. So glad I went else where.

Re: Bad Dress Shopping Experience

Which BR did you have your bad experience? I went dress shopping my first time at the Carle Place location and left with a dress. I looooved my sales girl. Her name was Tracy and she was totally awesome. I felt like she was on my side with the pricing, she convinced her manager to sell me a brand new sample that hadn't been put on the floor for a 20% discount with ALTERATIONS INCLUDED. Tracy wasn't pushy at all and it really didn't feel like she was trying to make money off of my sale and was trying to help me meet my budget.
