Re: bad etiquette
i know the general rule is a year, but I think 6 months should be more than appropriate. i'm still waiting for one from may 2005. guess that one's never coming

Re: bad etiquette
It's definitely rude, but it's not your place to say anything about it!
I don't buy the year rule (sorry, ladies)... I got a thank you from a wedding in February last week and I thought it was awfully rude that she waited so long to send the thank yous. I also got a thank you for a wedding in April yesterday, which I also thought was rather rude.
So yes, totally wrong that thank yous haven't been sent out... but I wouldn't say anything. It's not your place.
ETA - I never really think about the thank you until it comes up in some other context. I'm sure there have been weddings where I've never gotten one... didn't really think about it until someone else mentioned it. I think it's RUDE, yes, but I don't think that means guests should say anything.

I went to a wedding 4 years ago & never got a thank-you card... Actually, I think they may have divorced.

Yes, it's a year to give a gift... However, I think people who gave gifts closer to the wedding should get thank yous as soon as possible. Then wait a few months to see if those who hadn't given gifts give... If not, then send them a thank you for sharing in your special day.

Re: bad etiquette
This seems to be the norm.....my parents have been to two weddings over the last few years where they never received Thank you cards.

I think everyone who shows up to the wedding to spend the day with you should get a thank you. If they send the gift later just send another thanking for the gift.

I agree. That was my point... I was saying send TYs out immediately (within a month or so if you can). If you didn't get a gift from someone, perhaps wait another month before sending them their thank you. If they send a gift after that, then another thank you is appropriate.
The only I mentioned waiting is b/c I tend to write TYs immediately -- and I would actually worry if I sent them too soon before people have a chance to send a gift, they might think I thought I was never getting anything from them. (Then again, if they choose not to give a gift, that's fine, too, and they'll still get a card)

I agree as well...Of course, you and I would never do it, but who wants more junk that you just throw out anyway. I usually just keep the picture.

I think I'm the opposite. I really do not care about thank you notes at all. I know they are only made out because the person has to. I just throw them out anyway.

Re: bad etiquette
I agree about staying quiet. Omitting a thank you note is an etiquette breach, but it's a worse etiquette breach to call out someone else's faux pas. If it's an uncashed check, I could see how you might ask about it (the check, not the TY note) under the notion that you want to keep your records straight or to make sure it wasn't lost, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.
