BAD LUCK..

BAD LUCK..

What are your feelings on seeing each other before the ceremony? I thought about doing this, but FH doesn't want to do it. He wants the emotions captured on film seeing me for the first time. I on the other hand, don't want to have pictures of me crying..lol. I'm not a 'cute' crier. Although it's nice to have both..I'm all for seeing him before. I'm sure there will be just as much emotion...what do you think? Is it bad luck?

Re: BAD LUCK..

FH and I both agreed it was bad luck to see each other before the mass. But I know brides who met their FH beforehand for photos, so they could enjoy their CH more. It's up to you and what the two of you decide.

Re: BAD LUCK..

THANK you...I feel like such a dork!

We thought about attending our cocktail hour..but have heard mixed reviews about not being able to enjoy it because everyone comes up to you. I went to a wedding where the guests ambushed the bride and groom at their table as soon as the reception started..and there was a receiving line. I didn't like that at all...which made me think about attending the CH..but I dont know. I really want to be able to enjoy my reception..w/out being bothered ..is that crazy?

I don't think it's bad luck, but I do think it's nice to catch the natural reaction of seeing each other for the first time at the ceremony. It really depends on how important that is to you.

we're seeing each other beforehand to take pics. FH is a little bummed, but I think it'll be nice to have that private moment together beforehand to hopefully settle our nerves a little!

No way, not crazy! We're taking pics before the ceremony so we can enjoy our CH and talk to guests. Then we can mainly dance at the reception.

Happy to Help (HTH)! FH and I will be missing about 15 min of our CH in order to finalize a few shots on the golf course outside our CH area, which isn't so bad, then we will greet our guests while we get some food. FH likes the idea of going to the tables one by one during the reception to thank everyone, so we may do this as well.

Re: BAD LUCK..

I think I'm a bad bride...because I don't want to go table to table, and I don't want people coming up to us during the reception. I've noticed at most weddings..people do this when the bride and groom are eating. I was thinking of asking our DJ to inform our guests ahead of time that there will be an announcement made when they can come up to us? I think that's mean...lol..but I'm trying to think of ways to avoid the rush at the table.

No one can make the decison for you to see each other before the ceremony. Write down your pros and cons. For us, it wasn't even something to discuss. We never wanted to see each other before. We are traditional.

I know of a bride that had the DJ announce that if people would like to wish the bride and groom well, they can meet them on the dance floor. (But, at least, make sure you see your disabled guests)

We skipped the cocktail hour and it was the best decision we made. It gave us a chance to sit alone and eat and drink in the bridal suite. Our BP (bridal party) left us alone. At the reception people just kept coming up to us, and chatting, even after the music was done.

If we went to the CH, it would've been another hour of people chatting with us. There's no way if we went to CH and mingled there that it would stop people from trying to talk to us throughout the reception. I'm so glad we had the hour alone. It's one of the few things I remember from the night because it was just us.

Re: BAD LUCK..

someone posted about how important her cell phone was the day of b/c it helped to avoid seeing each other....so i posed the question of how bad would it be if you did...you'd get that OMG>>>>i am soooooo effin nervous and BABY, YOU LOOK AMAZING!! out of the way, in private, not in front of anyone else...another past bride commented after me to say, you are so right ....we were up there in front of all those people for this very raw, personal moment and they couldn't speak to one another or let the emotions out....she wishes they could've.

i think the notion is great if you are super traditional....but the idea of getting to hear instantly FH's impression of how i look and not the next day on the flight to our HM or weeks, years later as the whirlwind of lifeand the reception kicks in and we don't get to tell each other the things we think in the instant that the feelings/thoughts came to us,well that's just priceless....no tradition is worth it...that and we can have a final....OMG.....we have to do this in front of allllllll those people!!! you freakin? me, too!! i love you baby, let's go get married!!

it's a personal choice, but considering how nervous we all are, i thnk that in the end, even if it doesn't work out that way, what's the harm?

Re: BAD LUCK..

you all have given such great advice. I am really going to try and have him go w/the idea of seeing each other before..so that we can say what we want to..and be all smiles during the ceremony :)

Re: BAD LUCK..

I hope its not bad luck.!!!!...We Will be seeing each other before the ceremony. So that we can get most of the Pictures out of the way....and then we can enjoy the cocktail hour. The Photographer mentioned that he gets a better picture of the groom reaction when he sees the bride then he would if we were in Church.

Re: BAD LUCK..

That makes total sense....and precisely why I want to do the pictures before the ceremony. wish me luck on convincing my FH....

I saw my DH before the ceremony and it was just as magical as if we would have waited, It is up to you but I was NOT missing my CH to take pics. That was our decision.
