I think I'm a bad bride...because I don't want to go table to table, and I don't want people coming up to us during the reception. I've noticed at most weddings..people do this when the bride and groom are eating. I was thinking of asking our DJ to inform our guests ahead of time that there will be an announcement made when they can come up to us? I think that's mean...lol..but I'm trying to think of ways to avoid the rush at the table.

We talked to our guests during the CH and at the reception, we pretty much did our own thing,. It worked out so well for us.

While I agree that the moment your FH sees you for the first time will be memorable no matter where it ocurrs, for ME I feel it will be more special if he doesnt have the opportunity to tell me how beautiful I look right away, but rather I can watch him express this to me through the emotions on his face and have to wait until the entire ceremony is over to say 'I've been dying to tell you how beautiful you look.' For me showing his love for me and his emotions in front of all the people in the church will be so special, especially since you get married in front of everyone so they can witness the expression of your love for each other. Thats not to say your guests will not witness your expression of love if you see each other for the first time before church, but for me there is something so special about that first moment and i think the guests would love to share in that and we would love to share that with our guests.
Sorry this was long, but I have been trying to pinpoint why it is so important that we dont see each other before the wedding.

This is such a hard topic...I agree with both points that are being made. I guess if we decide to wait..I'll have to try my best to keep myself somewhat composed....even though I do agree it is special to see the couples emotions. I know mine will be all over my face.

We tooks pics before-I don't regret that decision at all.

Once we stood under the chuppah the chills and the butterflies were there. We were doing something brand new together..I will never forget that feeling.

I was so glad I saw DH before the ceremony. It took nothing away from the ceremony or walking down the aisle. I'm glad we had a private moment together that the photographer was able to capture. Seeing him calmed me down and I was glad we were able to spend the entire day together. We were able to enjoy the entire reception including the cocktail hour. Neither of us regret our decision-seeing each other beforehand was the best choice for us.

Same here. I was still nervous as hell walking down the aisle.

We saw each other before hand and greeted most of our guests during the CH, giving each person or table about a 3-5 minute time limit. This only used up about half of the CH, since people were too busy eating to really greet us fully anyway!!!

But it worked out well, because we still got our alone time before and after the ceremony, and then just partied for the reception!!!

Look at this way, and I've said this a thousand times. The tradition of not seeing each other before the wedding stems back to arranged marriages so that neither party could back out once they saw who their family arranged for them to marry.

With that in mind, is it now really a big deal or 'bad luck' to break that tradition?

FH and I will be seeing each other before the ceremony. I didn't want to do this at first, but I am very happy with this decision now. I don't want to spend my CH taking pictures. I want to spend it with my brand spankin' new husband!!!
