bad salon experience/need updo expert!! (long)

I went to Spa Nouvelle in Babylon for a regular haircut and since they offer the typical bridal services I wanted to let you know about the terrible experience I had. I was recommended by a friend who said to see Earnest, so I made a 12:00 appointment with him. It looked busy, so I figured I was in for maybe a 15, 20 minute wait. At 12:45 I started to get a little annoyed so I spoke up, and after confusion reigned for a few moments they finally concluded that there was a mixup and Jennifer was going to do my hair. Meanwhile, I figured out who Earnest was and he was finishing his customer and starting someone else, so they had obviously forgotted about me. I sat back down and turned to the woman next to me who was also waiting and asked if it was always like this, and she replied with an emphatic yes. Hmm. So they bring me over to Anthony and I told him I wanted three layers (which I had but they grew out, my hair as of Saturday morning was in the middle of my back) the shortest falling no higher than my shoulders, just to give it body. I have had this cut before and I love it. Well, he gave me layers all right. My hair has never looked so short in my life. I told him I wanted two to three inches off the bottom, he took more like four, and the layers are MUCH shorter than I wanted. I showed him pictures of what I wanted, too. I was actually sitting in the chair crying. I felt and looked terrible. It didn't seem to faze the guy at all. I was thinking of complaining, but it's too late. What can they do? I don't know what their bridal services are like, but if they're as unorganized as their regular operation then I would avoid them. But my post has two purposes: I have already ordered my headpiece (at Bridal Boutique in Massapequa-very reasonable) and I'd like my hair to actually fill it out. I think it'll be ok; hair grows a 1/2 an inch a month so by the end of July I should have 2 more inches. However, if my wedding was next week I would think seriously about getting extentions. Anyway, since I don't have my hair person I'm looking for someone who's REALLY good at updos, to make the best of what hair I have left. I was trying to keep it under $100 for hair but I don't think I really care anymore. Any suggestions or input, especially on good updo stylists would be greatly appreciated. Jenn, You may want to try my salon in Massapequa. The name is KrisG and Annmarie always does my hair. My sister used her for her trial and it came out beautiful!! My sister had an updo! She is going to do my hair. I have short hair so I will not be do it up THey are a full service salon...hair and makeup if you want. Let me know ifyou need the number and address. Lisa Rose

Hi, I recommend Harvey Allen on Merrick Rd. in Merrick. I would set up an appt. with Deborah. They do nice up do's and makeup there.

It was the Cactus Salon in Plainview-- def meet with Valerie --she is amazing They are a full day spa-- so makeup, facials, massages the whole works My trial was amazing and in a few weeks I can let you know how the real day goes 932-1348
