Re: Bag pipes
A girl who was just married (Lissie) on the weddingchannel.com boards just had a bagpiper at her wedding.
You may have better luck if you post a thread there.

Re: Bag pipes
HI there. I am irish and we are having bagpipes at the wedding. Although, we are getting ours from the dea...my dad is a former police detective, I have just seen a number for bagpipes. I saw this at the irish store in Douglaston on Northern Boulevard. I dont know how far he is willing to travel or how many there are but its worth a shot. His name is Brian and his number is 516 775- 3502. Hope this helped!

Re: Bag pipes
We are using Keith Albee
There is also the Amityville Pipe Band who can hire out a lone piper or two
I liked Keith best out of anyone I spoke with.

Re: Bag pipes
You may want to try the Ancient Order of Hibernians. There are many different divisions all over the island. I know that we are getting them because my Grandfather is a long time member, but I dont know if they are available without an inside connection, but its worth a try!!

Re: Bag pipes
Thank you everyone. My FH is in the AOH in Hampton Bays. We are having the reception in Southampton. I am thinking of getting in contact with suffolk county police pipe band. My brother had a piper at his wedding in 98. Unfortunately he was involved in the 9/11 disaster. God rest his soul. I just found out today when I called his house. His widow broke the news. She informed me of some of his friends. Thanks again.

Re: Bag pipes
Does anyone have an idea of how much it would cost to have them perform a few songs?

Re: Bag pipes
It's cool to see how many of us are getting bagpipes to pay at our weddings. This is one of the only things that my FH has absolutely insisted on in our planning. He must have pipes!! Check out www.elippd.org for lots of information on the Eastern Long Island Pipe and Drum Corp (they are based in Hampton Bays). Lots of links too! Hope this helps-happy planning

Re: Bag pipes
I booked a piper through the NYFD and he's charging $200. I have no idea what the going rate is. He'll play after the ceremony, while people are filing out of the church...probably about a half hour.

Re: Bag pipes
We're probably having one outside the church as well! I would really LOVE to walk down the aisle to the bagpipes but I think the size of the chapel will be to small for something like that! I have to look into it. My friends husband suprised her with a pipe band for their cocktail hour. She couldn't stop crying!

Re: Bag pipes
We are going to have him play the when my dad and I come down the aisle and when my fiance and I go down together.
Any ideas what music might be appropriate for pipes?

Re: Bag pipes
We are having the pipes from the NYPD Emerald Society play at our reception. They come in and play for about 20 mins to 1/2 hour. It will be 5 pipes and the big drum. The cost is 600.00. I can't wait. I have seen them play in the reception halls before and they are awesome.
