Bagpiper Contract???

So, I swear this will be my last bagpiper question!!! As I mentioned in a previous post today, I booked with one. Prior to today, I had spoken with several others, all of whom said that they never provide contracts, there is no money due until the day of, (it is inexpensive) and they just show up the day of and perform and get paid then. Well, seeing as everyone provides a contract or something of the sort, I feel uneasy. If I had not spoken to several who all said the same thing, I would be VERYuneasy, but they all shared that in all the years they have been doing this, they never have used contracts. So, finally my question...for those of you who have used a bagpiper, was this your experience as well? And, was everything okay in the end? I really appreciate any feedback...Thanks so much in advance!!!

We used bag pipers and they did not use contracts. I was okay with it because I felt that they were reputable and also I guess because there was no monetary transaction until the day of I wouldn't really be losing anything. I did however have my DOC call them the day before to confirm. Which they did and they showed up early!
I don't think you have anything to worry about!

we had pipers at the church and the reception (DH is in the pipe band) but we had no contract either.

a personal friend of mine played at my wedding, so obviously no contract. but these guys that are bagpipers are not really wedding vendors. doing weddings is not their real job... like say a florist or a DJ and therefore, arent' stressing over things like contracts and the like. most of these guys are NYPD, FDNY or are Irish-Americans that are just in a pipe band for fun.

i really wouldn't stress it as the cost is minimal and they know that they have to show in order to be paied. . i am sure he will show up as promised.
