Bahamas for Honeymoon - Questions?

I'm thinking about going to Bahamas for honeymoon which would be November of next year. Has anyone gone there? What's the difference of the areas between Freeport and Nassau? Is one nicer than the other? Any ideas for hotels? I do NOT want to stay somewhere where it's extremely crowded and noisy, I'd like to stay somewhere romantic. I know the Atlantis resorts are supposed to be nice, but based on the reviews by the Fodor's site, people basically said it was overrated. Any ideas?

Re: Bahamas for Honeymoon - Questions?

I've been to the Bahamas and went to the Atlantis. It is the heart of Nassau. All the action goes on there and there is so much to do. You have beaches, watersports, restaurants, casinos, live music a waterpark, shopping. It really is endless and very over priced. It is not a quite place although they do offer some bungalos for privacy. My sister has a time share in the Bahamas and we stay right next to the Atlantis Marina.

If you are looking for something more romantic and geared towards honeymooners, I would suggest the Sandals in Bahamas. It's an all-inclusive resort and caters strickly to honeymooners. Which means no kids, no rude people, everyone is there for one sole purpose and that is to glow in their post wedding bliss. I stayed in a Sandals in St. Lucia and I loved it. Everyone was so nice and friendly, all couples and no KIDS.

Go to www.sandals.com

Freeport is very quite and not as active as Nassau. It all depends on what you are looking for in a honeymoon vacation.

Re: Bahamas for Honeymoon - Questions?

We went to bahamas on a cruise and had a great time, walked through atlantis and is was so pretty. Eerything you need is in the resort and they do that because....don't evxpect to do anything outside of the resort, except some shopping there. the town is 'shaddy' and at night you don't want to be wandering around. Only thing I really hated about the people,,,,,they kept saying to me.....'cinderella, do you want your hair braided.' (first of all not a way to sell your services, second of all NO KNOTS FOR ME!!)
