Balance Bars

Does anyone know if Balance Bars are OK to eat if trying to follow the zone diet (or a similar diet).
The Balance Bars are 40,30,30 (40% protein, 30% carbs and 30% fat). I am just curious because it seems that now they (dieticians) are saying these kind of bars are not good for you.
Anyboby have any insight?

Re: Balance Bars

If I'm not mistaken, if the balance bars are on a 40/30/30 then you should be ok b.c the zone is teh same, no?

some of the bars out there, IMO, are too high in calories.. almost better off eating an actual candybar! lol

Re: Balance Bars

I have been eating balance bars for a while now. I usually keep at least one on me in case during the day. My sister in law and my mom went to a private trainer in Florida and they were told that not all the protein bars are very good for you. The ones she did recommend is balance bars and Luna bars. I alway have them stocked in my cabinet or in my car in case I am stuck at work.

Re: Balance Bars

When I was majorly into the gym a few years back, I used to eat Balance Bars all the time - but usually only one half at a time.

I'd keep them in my desk at work and I'd have half of one as a mid-morning snack and then I'd have the other half before a workout. The taste so much better than most other bars and have a better 'balance' of vitamins/minerals/fat/calories.

Re: Balance Bars

I think they have way too much sugar, and not enough good carbohydrates.

Sugar is BAD

Re: Balance Bars

I also heard that Luna bars were very good because they have less than 10 grams of sugar plus a couple of other things that I forgot. Sometimes I eat Balance bars or Luna bars before I go to the gym, but I prefer eating a banana or a mini bagel with veggie tofu.
