Re: Ballroom Dance Long Island
Let me know what happens...I always wanted to do classes but I don't think he would.
I was thinking of just getting a DVD and learn from that! Imagine him trying to ballroom dance in a dance school? LoL he'd kill me!
Good Luck

We worked with John from Ballroom Dance LI. He was great. He made DH feel very comfortable and was a lot of fun to work with. He choreographed our entire first dance, and everyone was completely floored by it at our wedding

Re: Ballroom Dance Long Island
John travels to you. He works in about 5 different studios across the island, so if you let him know where you're located, he'll tell you which is most convenient. We worked with him at a studio in Bethpage.

Yes..........we took lessons with John in Coram. He does private lessons so it is just the three of you. We decided to do the tango for our first dance. We had so much fun learning our routine and other dance steps. John made the lessons fun and he was extremely patient that we were never discouraged, so we actually learned to dance. The best reward is seeing the reactions on your guests' faces when they look on in amazement...........priceless! I would highly recommend lessons with John if it is in your budget and you have some time to take them. You will both have a blast...........yes even the future husband! LOL!

Re: Ballroom Dance Long Island
We started taking lessons about 6 months before the wedding. We went whenever we were able to go. We were only available to take lessons on the weekends, so we wouldn't go every weekend. I honestly can't tell you how long it took us to learn the dance routine, because we didn't do it straight through and we also learned other dance steps in between.
On average, I would say it will take most couples with no dance experience (like myself and my husband) about 6 to 8 lessons to learn a dance routine that you are confident with on your wedding day. Lessons are usually an hour, but John is flexible and he will work with your schedule. I hope this helps a little bit.
If you do decide to go for lessons, I hope you guys have fun because in the end that's really what it's about!!! That and your guests' reactions! LOL!
