Band AND DJ

Has anyone had both a band and a DJ? Been to a wedding with this? I really want a band, and my fiance really wants a DJ. My moms friend has an amazing band, and she is going to pay for it, so money isn't really the issue. I'm just wondering how it would work, and how the flow would be. What if everyones feeling the band, then the DJ comes on? Or vice versa? If anyone has any thoughts, I would really appreciate it!

Band AND DJ

I have both! The DJ will play to get people the dance but the band will play when people are eating and also for the first dance, mother son dance, anniversary dance, etc.

Band AND DJ

Thanks everyone! I've been thinking cocktail for band, and reception for DJ too. Or the before dinner band, after dinner DJ. Who knows. ChristineNicole, which DJ are you using? If we do end up doing this, I'd like to have a DJ who has no problem working with a band.

Band AND DJ

I actually went to a wedding last year that was 1/2 dj 1/2 band and I LOVED them. They flowed great and they were a unique option. Both played the whole reception and the dj was nice to have when the band needed a break for water, bathroom, food... I cant help you with the name of the group but if you find one I say go for it!

Band AND DJ

I've been to a wedding that had both band/DJ. It was great. The DJ played most of the dance songs while the band played during dinner and most of the classics that always get the crowd moving like shout, twist, etc. The band was really good, there were times we couldn't tell if it was the DJ or the band playing. I don't know the name but I would recommend them.
