Band/DJ Combos?
JUST STICK WITH A BAND!! DJ`s just don`t create the elegant, classy atmosphere that live entertainment creates.

Band/DJ Combos?
There is a band/dj combo that is on my halls recommended list. I can't remember the full name, but it is Tangerine something. I've never heard them play, but maybe something like that is an option.

I used to see a band called Tangerine in a few places years back. I wonder if it is the same. I thought they were real good.

band/dj combo
We are using DanceJock which is a band/dj combo. I dont agree that it wont be as elegant. There are a lot of DJ's out there that will not make it like a cheezy club scene. I saw DanceJock at 2 other weddings and am very happy with my decision. It is a DJ that also has a live singer. Let me know if you have any questions.

Band/DJ Combos? ~ SueWho
Hold on a minute there... : ) A generalization such as 'JUST STICK WITH A BAND!! DJ`s just don`t create the elegant, classy atmosphere that live entertainment creates. ' is kind of out of place here. It's the same as if I had said 'Don't get a band! It creates a stiff, stuffy, formal atmosphere where your guest will not enjoy themselves!' A fair statement? No! : ) Which is why we need to stick with facts and not insult others' taste. (I'm not picking on you Sue... just don't want any hurt feeling from people who have already booked DJ's... know what I mean?) For the record, I had a band/DJ combo that I got from Dancejock, and my wedding was *quite* elegant and classy, but also tons of fun. : )

Tom Gordon
I'm using Tom Gordon. I'd describe him as a combo of a band and a DJ. He's the MC (great voice, used to work in radio) and he has a DJ play during the whole reception except during dinner. (We wanted to hear the original artist's versions their song to a wedding band's interpretation - just a personal preference.) During dinner Tom plays instrumental music and has a female vocalist sing softly. His number is 718-934-3919, and his office is in Brooklyn. He books up pretty quick, but IMHO is definately worth checking out if your date is open.

Sorry JennRenee...
Sorry, didn`t mean to insult anyone. But the Band vs DJ discussion will live on Forever. Alot of it obviously based on people`s past experiences. Mine have included too much carnival-type atmosphere with dancers and giveaways and abrasive DJ`s. For my money, I`ll play a CD if I wanted pre-recorded music. To each his(or her) own. Again, everyone should feel free to choose their own tone at their affair.

An aside about DJs
The arguement could go either way...for DJ or for a band. My sister had a DJ, and I have to say it was possibly the most fun I have ever had at a wedding. The dance floor was packed all night long, and at 11:00, when the DJ was scheduled to leave, my BIL asked me what he should do...nobody had gone home!! So I told him pay for an extra hour of time...and people continued to dance for another hour! Finally, we had to end because the caterer said so. There were no special effects, minimal emceeing, no giveaways. 10 years later people talk about what a great time it was. On the flip side, my FH had a similar experience with a band for his brother's wedding. Like I said, it can go either way.
