Band Members Taking Breaks
I posted this on the vendors side, but I am curious to what you guys think too. I have a band at my wedding, and recently I have been to more than one wedding where it seemed to me that the band members were constantly taking breaks. I understand that everyone should have some sort of break, and that is fine, but for all of them to go at once and leave one poor guy up there alone, seems in poor taste to me. I would think that one should only go at a time. The wedding I went to recently had only one person up there pretty often so the other members could get breaks! What should I say to my band leader so this doesnt happen?!

Re: Band Members Taking Breaks
Well, in my contract with my band it says 'continuous live music' which means that when someone is taking a break, there should always be one member up there at least to play an instrumental or something like that. My concern was that in the bands I have seen lately they do that so much! Has anyone else noticed this?

Re: Band Members Taking Breaks
I used to work for a caterer, so I can tell you that it is the MaitreD who decides when the band breaks. (eg: taking order, serving courses, etc) You shuld speak to your caterer before time and insist that a minimum of breaks be requested of the band. I am combining by salad/ appetizer courses to avoid 2 separate breaks. Most MaitreD's will abide by your wishes, but some do their own thing no matter what!!

Re: Band Members Taking Breaks
Taragirl, thanks for the tip. I will make sure I talk to my Maitre'd as well as my band leader before the big day.

Re: Band Members Taking Breaks
our band (Current Affair) never had the whole band on break at the same time. Since most band members sang, they were able to rotate out for breaks. I don't remember any recorded music being played and there was certainly no time without music. The M'D did organize music selection (like not planning dancing mucis while taking orders or eating)
