Band or DJ

Congratulations to all engaged couples - let the fun and stress begin.

My wedding is in August of 2006 and I have most of my vendors except reception music. I am undecided on a band or DJ. what are the majority of you doing?

We're going to have a DJ. In many cases I think it comes down to budget...a band will cost a lot more than a DJ

We budgeted in a Band....b/c that was important to us...but it deffinately has to do with budget!

We budgeted for a band too, we really love live music.

Band if you can afford it (aka if someone else is paying, in a lot of cases, not all), DJ if you're paying...that's what makes sense to me, but it depends on your individual priority. i'm psyched to be having a band, but i'd be very happy with a dj also - usually depends on budget...

We're doing a band. We love the sound of live music and my FI is a musician so not having a band was not even an option for us.

We are going with a DJ. Budget is definitely an issue.....although a bunch of our friends wanted to get us the Dan Band from the movie Old School

We are having a DJ (tommys tunes)

If money wasn't an issue, I would still have Tommy's Tunes, I would just add in their upgrades like the frank sinatra singer and the live drums and such...

We are doing a band, just more of a wedding feel (for us) & my FIL's are paying (yeaaa!)

We;re having a DJ.

A band just was NOT in the budget. Also, I've seen some great wedding bands, but they always manage to somehow screw up one of my favorite songs..LOL. I'd rather hear the original artist for some things.

we are doing a dj- we had to decide between more expensive photography or a band, and went with the photos!

a band for us because to us it just felt more wedding-ish...but we are fortunate because FILs are paying for it!

We love the band we chose

If i were going with a DJ i would have tommy tunes they are fantastic

Originally I wanted a band because we went to a wedding over the summer and the band they had was AWESOME!!! My FI really wanted a DJ so I said fine...now I am glad we are doing a DJ because its so much cheaper and we have spent a lot already.
