It all depends on your tastes, the style of your wedding, and of course your budget.
We're having a band. We didn't even have to debate the issue. The guests all love live music and all good bands can play a wide range of music.

fh and i never wanted a band....nothing wrong with it-- I have seen some great bands at wedding---but we just preferred a dj who would play the original songs and get the crowd going.
its all personal preference...if your not sure go check some of both out and see what you like better!

There are pros and cons to bands and DJs, but for us, a band was always the way to go. We feel that a band brings a ton of energy to the event - and a good band can basically play any type of music. We are having 5 lead singers, with one that can even do rap.

I think it depends on how much you can spend. You can get a DJ for $1000, but bands START at $6000. Personally, I could never in my life spend so much money for music.

i would a band....but we cant afford it....and FH said he actually prefers DJ cuz he wants to hear the original artist.....
o well...cant really argue too much with the $$$$....

My FH wanted a DJ because he wants to hear THE artist for songs, but my parents felt strongly that a band makes a wedding so we went with a band. I recently went to a wedding with a DJ, and I have to say that there was a little lack of 'specialness' (at some point, I thought that i could be listeining to a mix on my ipod) and I didn't feel like any of the songs would be missing something if a band covered it - I actually started thinking that I'd rather hear a band as I've heard the recordings 50 million times before! I did promise my fh that we'd have the band play 'our song' by the original artist - George Harrison. Many bands do a mix of dj and band.

i always wanted a DJ bc i didnt think a band could play upbeat music...i thought they played older slower music. BUT at fbils wedding they had a band and everyone was up dancing the whole night....i fell in love with them and needed to have them. We ended up booking them and got a pretty good deal and worked out budget around that....but it all depends on personal preference!

I say BAND! I just booked mine on Monday and have always wanted a band. I love how a band takes a song and makes it their own, FH loves live music too. Our band, Soul Revival , is reasonably priced, which was important for our budget
