What are the average price quotes you are getting from bands? I saw a band I loved last night...however my Dad thinks any band under 10k muct not be good enough. This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard! Does anyone else agree?

there are definitely great bands out there for under $10k. I'd say many are in the $6-8k range and then offer add-ons

it depends on the number of ppl in the band.
most prices i got for a decent band were about $850-$1000 per person in the band for the reception.
so an 8-piece band (drummer, two horns, three singers, key board, guitar) would run about $8000.
there are bands that cost much much more depending on their reputation. i really couldnt find anything less than that though.
which is why i opted for the DJ w/ drums & sax combo. i hope to get the same affect lol.

I agress it depends on how many band members you are going to need. I had 6 band members and it was 6k. Everyone raved about them- they were great!

The bands that I've seen range from $5800-$9500.
ETS: My band has 9 pieces and I'm paying $6500 and they are awesome!!
Mine is $6000...but i am a friday night in February...they charge up to $7500 for a saturday night in the high season....it all depends
**this includes a keyboardist for the ch and an 8 piece band for RH

My BM actually told me any good band will run you about $10k. But what I found was a band will work with your budget based on how many members you hire. The band I hired, can go up to 56 pieces!! Normally, they start at $10k for a standard 10piece band. However, I only took 7pieces and got the price down. Plus we are paying cash so they came down even more. You can definitely make it work. I saw some great bands for about $8,000 but as you add pieces and time the price goes up.
My band runs between 13,000 - 17,000 all depends on the night and how many pieces.
I do believe you get what you pay for. A band that is in demand will charge more and bands that are not in demand or do not have a great following charge less because they need the business.

You can definitely get a great band for under $10K... we are using 'The Touch' and they are awesome, and well under that price. We've seen them play at a few venues and they were great!
