Band Showcase

Hi all! Hoping you could help. I keep getting these postcards in the mail from various bands and DJs inviting us to attend showcase events. Unfortunately, these events generally take place on weeknights, which we cannot attend, as we live in Washington, DC. Just today, I got another card from a band called Milestone, announcing a showcase on March 9 at the Holiday Inn Plainview. Since this is a Saturday night, we`re wondering if it would be worthwhile to make the trip up to LI from DC to check it out. What I`d like to know is, has anyone been to an event like this? Is it generally a showcase for just one band, or are there several? Do you know anything about this particular band or the event on March 9? Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks!!!

Band Showcase

Attending a showcase is how we choose our band. We had been to 5 or more when we finally picked. In my opinion, its the only way (aside from seeing them at a wedding) you will be able to know what they sound like. Some showcases only have one band, others have 2-3. The postcard should say. Essentially they put on a little 'mini-show' and you can get a sense if you like them or not. Call ahead and make sure they are available for your date before making the trip.
