I am so clueless when it comes to prices for bands...what is a reasonable price for a good band...and any suggestions?

Depends on how many pieces, what you'll have for ceremony and cocktail hour, etc. Also, everyone has a different opinion on what makes a band 'good'. The bands that I thought were good (and still somewhat decently priced) were around $6000-7000 for 9-11 pieces, including a jazz trio for cocktail hour and guitar for ceremony.
