Bands Advice!

Hi All,

Did anyone hear of one of the Hart To Hart bands, Eric Ashley? I saw his DVD and loved it, but I've never heard him play live nor was he recommended by anyone I know. Any comments suggestions ...

If there's another band that anyone can recommend that would be great too!

Thanks!

Re: Bands Advice!

Hi,
I am not getting married until 2/14/2010 but I have started my search for a good band early. I never heard of the band you just named, but these are some bands I went to see live at band showcases Livewire, Code Blue by Skyline Orchestras, & Afterhours. Code Bleu was at my cousin's wedding this passed August I don't think one person was sitting they were amazing. Afterhours I think is also a good band everyone in it is very good the male lead is awsome, the women lead singer has a good voice but I felt at times her voice was getting drowned out by the music, it might have been the room I saw them at. But they have a nice jazzy Rock feel to them. Livewire was amazing honestly they were my favorite they actually have 4 singers & when they sent me there CD I thought it was a fake thats how good they sounded. When I saw them in a studio in NYC they blow me away. The band Paris from soundcheck I believe is also good if you want your band to play trendy recent pop music. Personally I want a band that can do a little of everything. Let me know if I can be of help with anything else.

If you have any florist suggestions that would be great. Since I am getting married on Valentine's day I am freaking out because I am realizing what ever I saved on one vendor I am going to spend in Flowers & I really don't want to go through that.

Thanks

I second Soul Revival! I got in touch with them on tela's recommendation and booked them! They are great - I can't wait to dance to them at my wedding!

flairforfashion and Kris3115, glad to hear good things about Code Bleu!

My parents saw them at a bridal showcase and were blown away so they had them hold our date, fedexed me a dvd of them and then we booked the next day! I've only heard good things.

REALLY!? That's awesome. Where did you see them perform? My parents booked them without my FH seeing them. I had seen them perform 4 years ago at a wedding. My parents went to showcase and booked them

I booked Code Bleu also! Here are my opinions on bands I saw:

My friend Bob saw 8 bands and booked Code Bleu because they blew everyone out of the water. He recommended them to me and they were also my favorite out of 4 bands that I saw! I added the female vocatlist Pamela because she is awesome and we added the trumpet.

Sweetwater...I didnt love them (I was not impressed with the female vocals) and Tommy invited me to see them play at a bar. Not a good experience because the room was tiled and very echoey. Also Tommy was a bit of a stalker

Body Heat - Pretty good but FH never got to see them

Arcadia - I like them alot actually. The lead singer has an awesome voice and can sound like anyone! My only drawbacks...lead singer also plays sax. It was stressful watching him switch between singing and sax. I would rather have 1 set sax player. Also to add a trumpet was $700! That is insane...Code Bleu offered a much better price to add a trumpet.

Lastly I heard Heart and Soul were good but my friend saw them at a wedding and said they took a lot of breaks. Also the lady I contacted kept telling me different things...they had the date open, they didnt have the date open.etc.

Also I heard Vision is great! I heard the lead singer is hot and that your guests may be staring at her all night, instead of you! HAHA!

Re: Bands Advice!

Try not to book a band from a DVD or CD. The music can be easily enhanced. Go to some live showcases that is the only way to get to hear if the band is right for you. I used Times Square Orchsetra and they were amazing at my wedding, people are still talking about the music. Other bands I liked were Code Bleu and Faze 4(a bit pricey). Renegade is also a great band.

I agree don't book because they sound good on Cd or DVD you have to check the band out in person. Make sure you find out how many breaks the band you are booking wants. Try to get a band that plays Continuously through the wedding reception. Best of Luck
