bands, DJ's charging tax?
Does anyone know if bands are supposed to charge tax. Some places say it's included. Other places say there is no tax because it's a service. One company wanted to charge an administrative charge. And what about DJ's. Do they charge tax?

I'm not sure, I think they charged me tax.... I'll have to check when I get home.OR maybe it was just gratuity they added on and the tax was included. Sorry, I guess I'm not much help.

Re: bands, DJ's charging tax?
I can not be certain of this. But I believe that this was brought up in Vendors Helping Brides quite a few months ago. If I remember correctly, quite a few of the musical vendors on this site said that there should be no tax. Do a search on the topic just to be sure though.

Here is what I was talking aboutI think one important thing to note is this:
'Anyone who mentions the word tax, administrative fee, etc in a contract is definitely someone you should avoid. There is no tax on performing services- either DJ or Band services. '~Stan Wiest~

Re: bands, DJ's charging tax?
Thanks for the info Debbie. I thought there was no tax but after speaking to entertainment companies I was not sure. Wow this board can be useful.

Re: bands, DJ's charging tax?
Not a problem, glad I could help. If you really like the company but they are charging you that fee. Call them out on it. Ask them specifically what it is, who it goes to and then remind them...your providing a service and I am already paying you. If they don't waver....go to someone else.
