Bands-- Help!

Has anyone listened to a dvd or cd of a band and thought they were not good (or not what you wanted), but then changed your mind after seeing them perform live?

usually it's the other way aorund since the band can fix up their CD/ DVD in the studio and make it sound as good as they want. it's when they play live that you hear them for real....
