Bank Account....???

Bank Account....???

Chicas
my FH and I will be opening a Savings Joint account because we want to save for our house...
As of now, we both have Bank of America...

We are unsure if we should open the joint Account with bank of America or if we should Switch...

What u think?
So far we dont have any problems with Bank Of America... Everything is Great with them... But FH was saying that perhaps 'other banks'(City bank, Chase, etc) could be a better options...

Any thoughts?

Gracias!

I have Chase and we also have a joint chase account but his personal account is with Citi. We haven't had any problems. I think if BOA has been working for you guys so far just stick with them.

agreed.

does BOA have online options where you can transfer $ to the savings any time you want? can they set it up to take a certain mount out of your checking every week or month? That's an easy way to saving/.

Are there any monthly fees on a savings?

i would see which bank will give me the largest interest rate % and i would open the account with them. at the time that me and FH opened our joint savings account Capital One had the highest interest rate

FH and I have joint checking and savings with BOA and it's been really convenient because our keep the change from checking goes straight into our joint savings.

You can also have an amount automatically go into your savings whenever you want.

I find it really convenient to be able to move things around whenever neccesary but I know you can get a higher interest rate with online banks.

We have a joint account at Citibank and I also have my personal account there. Fh has one at TD Bank but I he never uses it (I don't even think there is anything in that one).

For the wedding and house saving fund, we have an account on IngDirect.com.

Is it SAFE??

I have an INGDirect account too! I tried getting FH to use it as our joint but it was just easier to get Chase at the time.

V - ing is safe and pretty good, usually has a higher interest rate than other banks. You can only access it online but you can link it to your savings account in BOA.

But How do u take money Out if it is only ONLINE???

Like Ness said, it's completely safe. What you would have to do when opening the account is link the account with your bank's checking account. When you want to transfer money from your checking to your ING Direct account, all you would do is sign onto INGdirect.com, go to the Transfer Funds tab and then indicated where you want the money taken out of and which account you like to have it deposited. And it would be vice versa for when you wanted to take money out of ING and put it back in your savings account.

One thing to keep in mind though is when you transfer the money from ING to your bank, it may take a few days for it to be available in your bank account so if you are making a payment to a vendor or something, make sure you initiate the transfer like 3-4 days ahead of time so it will be available when you need it.

Re: Bank Account....???

here is the link to ING

ING Direct

Click 'Open An Account' on the left hand side.

I recommend opening an 'Orange Savings Account' which is in the first section, first link. It will walk you through the steps on how to open the account from there.
