Bank Account....???

Original post by VCanizalez

Chicas
my FH and I will be opening a Savings Joint account because we want to save for our house...
As of now, we both have Bank of America...

We are unsure if we should open the joint Account with bank of America or if we should Switch...

What u think?
So far we dont have any problems with Bank Of America... Everything is Great with them... But FH was saying that perhaps 'other banks'(City bank, Chase, etc) could be a better options...

Any thoughts?

Gracias!

I have Chase, and FH has CitiBank, but our joint account is with ING direct. No fees and we've been really happy with them (plus their interest rates on savings accounts are somewhat descent).

I think they are good. Do you have a lot of fees? If so, change.

Chase is great. I think Citibank is good too. You just dont want a lot of fees.

We have an ING savings account too. It's really good. Higher interest rates than all the banks right now.

I think that it will be much easier for you both to transfer money into it if it BOA . and they should give you fees if you already have accounts there.

I opened a savings acct online with capitalone for my son when he was born. he's 2 years old now and i was wondering if i should move his money to a seperate INGDIRECT acct. Ive heard good things about them. idk what to do

CapitalOne says 1.10% APY

ING is 1.10% right now too. It used to be higher. Interest rates are just low now. Most banks are only .22 though, so ING is better... usually.

Ally right now has the highest interest rate I've seen at 1.3%. We had our money in ING, but moved it all to Ally when the rates started dropping. There's no minimum you have to keep in it, no fees, unlimited transfers IN, 6 transfers out/month....We LOVE it!

Veronica,

If your just using the account to save until the wedding then I suggest an account that pays you a better interest rate. A regular savings account only pays about .5% if that. I have an online savings with ING but I was also looking into Ally bank. These two are backed by the FDIC so it is safe.

Here is the link to ally if you are interest, just take a look into it and see if you like it.

One thing about these online banks are that you have to wait 3-5 business days so your money gets transferred into your checking account at BOA. But since you are using it to save, there should be no worries.

Hope this helps you out.

FH and I both have checking accounts at Citibank. We opened a joint savings account there also. It is great, because onlnie we can trasnfer money to all the different accounts.

I'd say if you are happy with BOA stay there where you have all your other accounts.
