I dealt with Patty at John Anthony's. She was the nicest out of all the places we went. We stopped looking once we met her.

Banquet Managers.....
I had my reception at Flowerfield. We mostly dealt with Florinda. We didn't completely love her, but we didn't dislike her either. We did, however, love every other staff member there. They all bent over backward in every way possible to make us happy.

I dealt with Florinda and Gina from Lands End, but
I didn't pick there. I booked the North Ritz Club. I am dealing with Christina and Gus. They are both very nice!!!

Jennifer at Lands End is very nice
I dealt mostly with Gina, but found Jennifer nicer to to deal with. Gina has been very accomodating, but she's a tough negotiater and definitely the 'boss'.

banquet choices
I have posted before to see if anyone has had any experience with 'fifteenth and west at the nassau county bar association' - its off franklin ave in garden city/mineola, near the mineola train station. It is not a typical wedding hall, ie not so 'glitzy' for lack of a better word...it holds 200 people, and I have tracked down several people who had their weddings there that had very positive things to say. They are not allowed to adverise due to being ass'd with the bar ass'n, they go by word of mouth. I got a sat. night price of what most other places were quoting me for friday nights. Anyway, Marie the manager there is very nice and accomadating, so I figured I'd mention it. There is also only one affair at a time there.

lands end was rude
In regards to lands end I met with Gina, she was a rude obnoxious snob and even if I could afford the place I was totally turned off and wouldnt just because of her. I told her I was concerned about the food and would like to have a tasting 'well we dont do that, you can only taste 6 months before the wedding after you've booked' like whats the point then! After I left I went down the block to the same owned country club place and the woman there was very nice although i want crazy about the place, i told her my concern about the food as well and she proceeded to tell me that there was a showcase going on to start in 1/2 hour at lands end and since all the recipes are the same that i should go, i was so shocked this woman at lands end hadnt even mentioned it to me, the woman at the country club was embarrassed and tried to convince me to go back anyway...no thanks. Just my experience, the place is gorogeous anyway but i ended up going with Watermill i dealt with tom lauderborn and he wasnt pushy at all, very personable and i felt very comfortable with him.big difference. These places should really think about what a banquet manager's attitude can do to business. Good luck

Banquet Managers.....
I never went to Land's End, but I had a great experience with the people at Floral Terrace. My FH and I spoke to Marianne and George and they were not push at all! Actually, we had gone to Jericho Terrace the week before and felt very pressured into booking them. We left there annoyed. So when we met with the people at Floral Terrace we were delighted and ended up booking with them.

I booked at the Miller Place Inn. I am dealing with Buddy. He is great! And it seems that every vendor I have met with knows him and speaks very highly of him, so his reputation really preceds him.

Gina at Lands End ( a little long)
I am dealing with her and yes she is 'tough' in the beginning, but not pushy at all. I think they get a lot of people who may not be able to afford it or meet the minimum. The food at Land's End is fantastic and their reputation speaks for itself. I had no doubt about the food...and I was right after my tasting. You can go eat there yourself, but if they offered free tastings everyone would go there. As for negotiating, she told me she could in the off season, but nothing could be done on the on season, she said blatantly that they WILL book every night. SO they don't have to sugarcoct things for everyone that walks in. She has been great to work with. I know that she will have everything perfect at my wedding. When I have called the other managers are always pleasant and upbeat. Personally I like 'tough' better than pushy.

Lands End
I'm dealing with Gina at Lands End and she has been great. I feel like my Mom and I have bombarded her with questions in the last week and she's always courteous with us. Yes, she's to the point, but I value her honesty; I'm the same way myself. I'm a little concerned that there is only one tasting left before the summer though. My fiance can't make it because of work and I can't believe I have to go without him!
