My Dh and I picked the godparents and we're so happy with our choice. This is the first time they've been godparents and they had a question ( and so did I).
Are they supposted to buy a cross for the wall or an actual cross to wear? They want to buy our son a cross to wear and I don't know how I feel about that...
What is customary for godparents to buy?
TIA

Re: Baptism Question
Does your son wear it everyday or is it a one time thing?
Sorry if these questions seem dumb...

Re: Baptism Question
Usually the Godfather buys the cross which will also be used for his sacraments. & the Godmother buys the christening outfit. It's usually just worn for the occasions.

its actually a one time thing, I think it could end up being a hazard or get broke if worn every day.

Re: Baptism Question
usually the godfather buys the cross and the cross is only worn for the baptism and other sacraments andthe godmother buysthe christening gown. I actually went with my daughters godmother to pick out a dress. We got one at JCPENNEY. They have really nice ones at Tri-County Flea Market that aren't expensive at all but the godmother live upstate so it was hard to get there with her. JCPENNEY has nice ones as well and they aren't expensive either here is a pic of the dress from JCPENNEY
for some reason it won't let me post the dress

Re: Baptism Question
Our son's godparents got him a cross to wear ( I think from Macy's BTW) and I bought the one for the wall.
He only wore it the day of the baptism and he is 2 and hasnt worn it since. I put it away in his own Jewlery box ( he has more then I do!!!)
I just dont feel comfortable letting a small child wear a necklace
