Bare Escentuals makeup - anyone else experience a bit of irritation using it?

I know this is not supposed to be irritating to the face but I went to Sephora yesterday and had the makeup person put some of the foundation and mineral veil on me, so I could test it out and decide if I want to purchase it.

I found that my face was a little itchy/irritated about 5 minutes afterwards. I had to take some of it off by tissue to make it stop. However I don't know if it was the makeup or maybe the brush - perhaps some of the bristles came off on my face? I couldn't find any on the tissue.

ETA - a better word would be that it stung on my face a little, more than it itched.

I'm a bit ticked off. I was hoping this stuff would do wonders. I think she put a bit too much on me, yet she buffed it for a while on my face with the brush. That was at 3pm, my face was shiny again by 8pm. Does anyone else find that normal or not when wearing B.E.?

And when you do shine, waht do you use to get rid of the shine - pressed powder? If that's the case then (IMO) what is the point of using B.E.?

Any advice appreciated.

I have been using it for almost 2 years now and I never had any irritation, so it might that the brush she used was dirty. I know when I dont clean my brush at home I tend to break out alot. My face also gets shiney towards the middle of the day if I put it on in the morning, the mineral veil does work to avoid the shine, if she put enough on it will work. Ulta 3 also carries it if you want to try some where else, or buy and see what happens when you use a new brush if you still get a rash then I would return it. If she took off the makeup you were wearing prior to that, you might have had an allergic reaction from the makeup remover. Their is also another mineral makeup called Illuminare. Their stuff is a liquid and comes in a small tube. It has better coverage and last's alot longer. It is exspensive but a little goes a long way. THe home shopping network sells it or you can go to WWW.Illuminare.Com and you can order it from there. That also has a SPF in the makeup aswell and it repels water. IF you put it on your hands and put your hand under the water the water beads up. Hope I helped you in some way

I also use it everyday and love it! I am addicted to Bare Escentuals. I use everything from their line. Love the way it looks and makes my skin feel.

Thanks I will check out that website.

It could have been the brush but she did take alot of time to wipe it off with tissues and a water mister. But it probably wasn't fully clean. I didn't get a rash it just felt itchy.
Like you want to run a tissue over your face sort of itchy.

I did like the blush she used though. However if I buy it I will buy the kit, which I know doesn't have the blush. If I keep with it then I'll buy the blush. But I'll look into the other stuff too.

Thanks!!

maybe it's just me, Kim, but it looked a bit 'mask-y' when the makeup lady was done. I don't have a 'flawless' completion (sp?) - and my pores are so huge you can put spare change in them. I wasn't thrilled with how it looked but AliciaHelene swears by this stuff too and says you have to play around with it for awhile before you get the hang of it and find how to apply it.

My only fear is that after a few weeks and it still looks like crap on me it will be too late to return it.

the foundation, which comes in different shades, the mineral veil, which acts as a setting powder, are the basics. you can get those in a kit that B.E. sells. In the kit you also get a brush and I believe a face glow powder to give your face a bit of color. And a video comes in the kit to show you how to pit it on. But you don't have to buy the kit - you can buy it all separate if you wish.

I went to the Sephora on 5th and 48th and a nice lady named Kim helped me. I'm still undecided what to do.

Have you tried the foundation primer by Smashbox? I saw them using this on QVC and it looked really good. Maybe you can try that at Sephora.

ebay also has alot- great for trying it out. you can get small samples of all different shades. I think too, if you don't have a good brush, that can make a difference. My skin had felt iritated after applying the BE with a harder bristled brush

I ordered it once and tried it and didn't like it. Maybe it's not that great on dry skin? I just tried it one time and sent it right back.

If you still arent liking the BE..I useSheer cover mineral makeup and I LOVE it!!! My skin will get oily half way through..but I have VERY oily skin. One thing I learned was that mineral makeup is incredibly copncentrated and a very small amount goes a LONG way..it will feel like you arent putting anything on..but you will get used to it..if you felt 'masky'then you may have had too much on. I love sheer coverage makeup and couldnt imagine switching..I also use the loose powder and I really love it!! Good luck...

What I REALLY want (ha) is a foundation that creates a flawless look. I don't like sheer because to me that's like nothing - you can still see my pores. I would love something that made my pores look smaller. And didn't shine me up 1 hour after I put it on.

I don't care what it is - bare escentuals or not - i just want something that will do that for me. I'ts just so upsetting to me when I walk in sephora and here's these women with AWESOME complections and me with my bigger than pothole pores and reddish skin.

It takes some practice to get the hang of putting it on. When you buy the kit it comes with a video of how to apply. Less is more! If you put too much foundation on it will look cakey. I start with the foundation by sprinking a few minerals in the cap and then taking my foundation brush and swirling all the minerals into it. Then start to apply 'buff' it onto my face. It really does give a flawless finish. I am Irish and my cheeks get red sometimes and this evens me out completely. My Mom also uses this exclusively and she has red spots on her face and this completely covers it. Then after the foundation I put on some warmth on my cheeks and mineral veil and it stays on all day with no touch ups. I also use the bisque for under eye concealer and their eyeshadow and 'brushless' mascara. I am fair so I use the fairly light foundation. It takes practice but it so worth it.

Ask me any questions. I love this stuff!

Kim
