Bargaining with photographers

Bargaining with photographers

Have any of you who already booked your photographers bargained with them to lower the price or throw in extras? What are your tactics? My FSIL was telling me she made a list of what each photographer was including in their package and got the guy she choose to match what the other photographers offered... Any other ideas or methods? If so, which photographers have been agreeable? Thanks in advance ;)

Re: Bargaining with photographers

I know that I needed a lot of extras since FH's parents are divorced, and Duet threw in the extra album, extra dvd, grandparents folio... all for nothing! I was really shocked! I was hoping that I could bargain down the price of those things, but when they said they'd throw them in for nothing, I was blown away. They also threw in some extra TY's, unedited dvd, and some other stuff that I can't remember off the top of my head.

It can't hurt to ask, so go for it!

We were able to get items thrown in for free... we got thank you's and enlargements thrown in but we were not able to lower the price. I think you can with some photographers.

We got to throw in a free e-shoot and a free 8x10 of our e-pics. Also, we booked him in 2002 and whatever extra pictures we want we will be paying 2002 prices not 2004 prices and we got the owner (he usually charges $500 to have himself shoot) shoot my wedding for free.

We booked with Patken and had him work out exactly what we wanted once we gave him the price we said that was too high and got him to lower it...then we said, 'Oh shoot we forgot about the third parent's album for my dad.' and he just threw it in. I'm in sales for a living so bargaining is one of my fortes.
