Stick with the Jets as long as possible.

I think it was a dumb move but should make the Subway Series more interesting though.

'Let's Go Yankees' will turn into --> 'Who's your Dad-dee?' I can hear it now. Arrgh!
However it is most impressive that Yankee fans have been able to master two syllable words in their chants. (hehe)

Don - I'm shocked
What kind of a fan are you???
Even Anthony said that he could never NOT be a Mets fan -- no matter how bad or aggravated they make him
Its part of that whole 'its SO HARD to be a Mets fan' .. This is just a test to see what your made of
Hey, I am not one to talk. I am still reeling from the series of events that occurred on the way to the Yankees embarrassing post-season appearance this year. Yet I will ALWAYS be a fan

ok, let me clarify
i'll ALWAYS be a met fan at heart and wish them nothing but success
that's it though
I will not spend our money for games I will not waste time watching them on TV, reading and all that stuff
I'll be a casual observer

They can aggravate you to no ends to the point where it HURTS to watch.
I felt the same way as Don does now in 1993.
The Mets were so horrible back in 93.. Maybe worse than they are now.. that I would actually watch Yankee games because the Mets would bore me to death --> The Yank games were competitive.

Thanks for the clarification. Its pretty much the way I've been observing the nonsense this off-season. I'm not reading all the articles like I normally would, etc
But I'm not sure I buy it, Don
And you KNOW that once Subway Series time rolls around, you and I will be 'rivals' again, and you will be loving it when Pedro faces the Yankees
And what about our plans to all go to a game ?!?!?!?! Ah yes, you'll just have to come to Yankee Stadium now

Im actually optimistic that we got Pedro. Should make the season more interesting especially when Subway Series comes around.

MY DH feels it was a bad move too. Why spend all that money on someone that may have only one or two good years left. He says it would have been a better investment to get some hot prospects that can develop into real talent for the Mets.

Exactly.
Agree or disagree--
The Mets have a terrible bullpen. They need a cathcer.. a 1b-man.. and RF'er and to get rid of Floyd. They shouldn't go for Sosa.. but for Ordonez.. no, not Rey.

I agree 100%
But this is the Yankees problem as well - going for the BIG name players that are on their last legs, ignoring promising young talent that can actually help rebuild the team
NY is a huge market - both teams believe they need big names to draw fans. They don't realize that we are SMARTER than that, and smart sports fans would respect our teams more if they actually went after young players with long-term potential.

I have mixed emotion on this. I don't mind him - and we do need a big name picther - but he will probably flop and/or get injured because the mets have no luck. He may/may not be on the downside - I think i is all up to Pedro - because I think he plays well when he wants to. But Pedro's downside numbers in the past few years are much better than any Met pitcher and most pitchers in baseball.
I do NOT NOT want Sosa.....We need an OF but Sosa is not the one. I would have spent the $$ on the Manny trade talks....or watch/try for Ordonez......just not sure what we can afford. I am also interested in Delgaldo - but he is also a risk...but better than Philips!
