Thanks for the clarification. Its pretty much the way I've been observing the nonsense this off-season. I'm not reading all the articles like I normally would, etc
But I'm not sure I buy it, Don
And you KNOW that once Subway Series time rolls around, you and I will be 'rivals' again, and you will be loving it when Pedro faces the Yankees
And what about our plans to all go to a game ?!?!?!?! Ah yes, you'll just have to come to Yankee Stadium now
that's easy, we'll just go to the brooklyn cyclones game
Baah ! You will be back rooting for your guys. You always START out strong.. its that post-All Star break thing that always leads to your downfall

I'll have to ask my DH. He's the big Mets fan. He probably would like you too and love to chat with you about sports.

The Pedro move is a move the Mets *MUST* make.
They have to get back into the 'ring' and show they are willing to contend. The Mets are missing out on bigtime Free Agents (Delgado, Vlad, etc.) because they frankly don't want to sign here.
They will have to overpay for at least one guy in order to get the ball rolling. If you are going to overpay... you might as well do it on one of the top pitchers in the game.
Also... no Ordonez please. That guy has a degenerative knee... thats due to fail at any point. The Mets should have made a move on Sexton... but that didn't happen.
I'd like to see Alou signed to a 1yr deal (i'll take two if he comes cheap). I'd also like to see a defensive 1B guy (preferably a lefty). I almost wouldn't mind seeing Olerud back... even though he is pretty washed up.
There were also trade talks involving sending Floyd to Boston for Manny. Now thats something I definitely would like to see.

I'm glad he's playing in the minor- i mean national league. One less pitcher we have to worry about. Congrats!!! I raise my glass to all of the Met fans.

Re: Baseball related -- As if the Yankee fans didn't have enough reasons to hate The Mets
My DH agree's with you on the needs of the New York Mets. The first base position will hopefully be filled with Doug Menticiewz from the Boston Red Sox via trade of either Floyd or Matsui. If they trade Matsui there is high indication they will get O Cabrera via free agency. He has ties with Minaya from his Expos days and would then put him at short and Reyes will stay at second. That would not be bad at all. Then my DH believes that they should invest in J.D. Drew. He knows that this was only his first healthy year but he is a better fit for this team than Moises Alou who can't play the outfield for his life. He is young and a left handed bat that we could use. The most important reason my DH does not like Pedro is that he doesn't want to take an MRI and there is inside indication that he has a 90% tear on his right labrum. Who wants another MO VAUGHN? This is a scary coincidence but they both had their best years in boston. Anyway for catcher they will stick with Piazza because there is no one out there that can do anything for this ball club. Lastly M Ordonez is damaged goods and only played 56 games last year as result of a bad back. He refuses to have any workouts. This does not bode well. The Mets main problem is that manangement is poor. Until F Wilpon sells the team to a qualified owner the Mets will remain in the dulldrums. Omar Minaya is not the answer as he is proving he is more suited for GM of a roto team. This is not Roto and a team should not be run in that manner. This is how my DH feels. What do you think?

I agree - they have to do something to get things turned around.
I still wish the Mets re-signed Olerud to begin with.
Floyd/Matsui for Manny works for me
