We just finished putting in a bathroom, full, in and are almost completely done with the basement. MY Dh did most of the work himself so it didn't cost that much. We had a plumber run the pipes and that cost about $600.00.

You shouldn't have to break through the foundation... all the pipes you will need to access should be there already. We just had the plumber run the pipes from the main lines (clean water and sewage water) to where the sinks, shower and toilet were going to be installed. We did install a 'pump up' toilet to help that but most of the outward pressure is just gravity.

We have spoken to some contractors and they said if you want it legal the foundation should be broken..after getting a permit of course..I even called the guys who inspected the house and they said the foundation needs to be broken in our case. So maybe its set up differently in your house.

That is very possible. For us, the pipes were accessable but, we did build up the floor in the bathroom so the pipes are under that.

Re: Basement

Your taxes will go up when you finish a basement. You do need a CO.
