Bath towels- dry clean recommended?

Bath towels- dry clean recommended?

Are they NUTS?

going over my registry and making some changes, I wanted to find something more than just 'green' in my bathroom. So I found these hand towels -

Turns out there's a whole set - shower curtain, bath rug, bath towels.

Well the bath towels say machine washable- but dry clean recommended! Like I don't have enough dry-cleanable clothes I'm gonna dry clean towels?!

So my question is...I might not go with the bath towels- only the hand and fingertip towels to add a little pattern. I'll also get solid sage towels.

Looking at the pinstripe pattern on the hand towels- what color towels should I go for as an accent color? I'm TERRIBLE at this! I'd probably be better at it in the store but not sure if I'll get there again.

TIA!

I would say the cream color

To be honest--choose something else. If they say 'dry clean recommended' it means the color will probably run and fade in the regular laundry. And, let's get real: are you really going to bring your towels to the dry cleaner? I have a hard time getting my clothes there! Besides the cost. There are a lot of other towels out there.

well basically these towels would only be out when there's 'company' - you know, so my bathroom wouldn't look so drab and boring.

OMG! I just got the same set at BBB in the blue with stripes. I didn't even read the tags! I have solid towels and I just got the towels with the strip (3 of them) as the show towels. I get a lt of compliments on the set. Nice choice.

that's idiotic.... dryclean recommended towels... you mean they're too delicate to get water on them? they're TOWELS!!!

I hate drycleaning... besides the hassel and $$$$, the chemicals they use are downright FRIGHTENING Some of it is stuff I'd refuse to use in the lab.... and they're literally DIPPING our clothes in them!

My advice? go to fortunoff's towel dept and grab all the towels to find the fluffiest and softest ones... and register for them. Towels are more about feel than looks!

I almost changed my mind and went with blue- but my kitchen is all blue so I figured I had to go with green.

It actually mentioned dry clean recommended on the website.

Glad someone else got them! Thanks!

Did you get the coordinating floor mat and shower curtain? And may I ask which color you went with for solid? I'm guessing blue? Just not sure if these sage greens all really match...

It's true, they are more about feel, unless they're the fancy 'guest' towel like I think she wants. I'm still amazed that one person gave me ALL the towels from my registry yesterday, and they're wonderful, so soft and fluffy!. But they're from Garnet Hill--I have Garnet Hill sheets, and they're amazing, so I knew the towels would be good. But mine are all boring white ones. I like white towels, you can bleach them, and I used to have royal blue towels and I was always getting bleach marks on them from my sunscreen. Also, we're going to be buying a house in the next year and I have no idea what our bathroom(s) are going to be like.

Ah, gotcha. So you wouldn't use them much. I saw some gorgeous towels like that at Anthropologie. When we buy our house I may get those. They're embroidered and so beautiful, totally NOT something you'd use every day.

I tend to agree

If you decide to keep them, I would do the accent color as cream/ivory.

I dunno though...cream towels...will they hold up? I can't see them looking too nice over time...

Here's the description of the stripe pattern on the shower curtain-
beautiful vertical stripe pattern in metallic greens, green blues and grays

How about gray towels? I think that might be nice! FH and I already have gray towels (it goes with his friggin' Elvis Jailhouse Rock shower curtain )

Ahh, the stripes looked like they had cream so I thought it would go well... I would go with a light/soft grey towel as an accent.

that is insane! though it is probably b/c the fabric swath will pill and bunch up. you may still need to iron them out after you wash them.

i would go with a solid color that is in the pattern. probably more greens than greys.

Thanks girls!

Next question- what brand towels is best? or the kind of cotton? What did you register for? I've looked at alot of them and felt them...but I really don't know anything about quality.

Re: Bath towels- dry clean recommended?

haven't registered for towels yet, but my guess is that they are much like sheets in terms of 'thread count.' the greater the count, the fluffier they will be.

I would recommend all cotton towels. they feel better than those with synthetic fibers and will soak up water better than anything else.

This is why I didn't do a registry. Dry cleaning towels....can you imagine? You'd never use them.
