Re: Bath/baby care supplies...

I use this stuff alot, I cant remember the brand (actually I think its Baby Magic) but its Baby Mousse in Lavender scent. Its for the body and hair. Cuts down on having an extra product.

I've never had to use Baby Oil. I thought that there was some reason they say not to use it on the baby. I cant remember why...Im telling you I have serious peggo jelly brain.

I always liked Desitin. I generally use Valeline unless he's looking a little bit red then the Desitin comes out. The J&J brand ointment is the best IMO. It's so creamy and washes off your fingers pretty easy.

You have hoodie blankets and lots of wash cloths too right? Also, I had a foam thingie that the baby laid on in the tub so he didnt slide around.

Here's my Mommy of a boy advice: Always have an extra washcloth around-especially when changing his diaper. They pee all over the place when they are really little. The worst that happened to us was Luke peeing on the wall next to his changing area but I know people who have gotten hit in the face or even the mouth with their boys (my bro ) so always have that extra washcloth around to cover the area.

On a daily basis I use

lotion
baby oil
baby shampoo/wash
desitin/A&D (I switch between the 2, but when I see diaper rash, I only use desitin)

You might want mylicon drops and infant tylenol handy.

Oh, and nail clippers too.

I didn't use alcohol or cotton balls with the umbilical cord. Everyhere I read said to do nothing until it falls off, unless it looks infected.

Melissa, do NOT use baby Oil on the baby - in fact, take it out of your house completely! This is a reminder to any Mom also...baby oil can be very dangerous and a deadly substance in your home. If the baby aspirates (breathes the oil into his/her lungs), the baby can die. There is no way for a person to recover from their lungs being coated with oil, so don't use it!!!

I know it sounds extreme, but accidents do happen, and it is not something that I am willing to take a chance with - EVER!

Buy a moisturizing lotion to soften baby's skin, or use Aquaphor. JMO.
