Bathroom Attendants... what do you think of them??
Original post by cjb88
I went to a wedding last night that had bathroom attendants in the bathroom... and it just made me think...If you had the choice as to whether to have them or not would you???
I dont think I would...
If I was ever not feeling well, i dont think i would feel comfortable going to the bathroom with a person just chilling on the other side not doing anything but listening... i hate when people listen when i am going to the bathroom just in general...
then they have a tip jar out there... why do you have to tip someone for just cleaning the bathroom... what service are they providing you... FH said in the men's b-room the guy was turning the water on for everyone... I think i can turn the water on myself thank you...
just a thought i had...

I don't mind bathroom attendants, but I HATE the tip jar, especially at a wedding or catered affair. I am going to make sure that there will be no tip jars in the bathrooms on my wedding day, even if it means that I have to pay the hall a little bit extra.

I don't mind having them there as long as they don't have the tip jar out. I'm going to have to check with my hall. Thanks for bringing this up or it is something I wouldn't have thought of.

I HATE THEM!! And my FI thinks you need to tip everytime you go to the bathroom!!
We were at a wedding last year and he was like 'I have to go to the bathroom, do you have any more singles?' I was like WHAT??? FOR WHAT?? He was like to tip....so I refused to give him anymore money...its ridiculous to tip everytime

Honestly, I think it's nice to have them. I've been places plenty of times when people can't bother to flush the toilet or they tinkle on the seat and leave it. I think when peole stop being slobs, they won't have attendants anymore.

The attendants definitely make me feel uncomfortable. I never know how much I am supposed to tip and how often I am supposed to tip. I definitely would not want a tip jar out - Does anyone know if east wind does this??

I hate them, and I would hate for my guests to feel like they should have brought thier wallets to my reception. Plus, their little baskets of goodies always looks sorta messy (if not tacky).

I definitely do not like the tip jar being out. I honestly had not thought of this before. Now I have one more thing to consider when selecting my hall!

If you are worried about tipping, leave your bag at the table so you obviously have no place to hold money.

hate 'em. they make me very uncomfortable and they make me feel like i have to pay to pee because i never know when/how much/how often to tip. not sure if this is something milleridge does, but i will definitely request their absence.

We have it in our contracts that no tip jars are allowed - for the bathroom attendants, coat check and bartenders. Sooooo tacky. But we are having 1 attendant for both the men's and women's bathroom - to clean up any messes and to refill, etc. Make sure the place looks neat.

I think if you don't have an attendant whose going to keep the place tidy. I go to weddings all the time where women tinkle on the seat can't bother to hit the garbage pail with the napkin after they wash their hands, then the bathroom is a mess. You can easliy have them use one attendant for both bathrooms. You don't have to but it would be nice to give her a little something when it's over. They don't have to hang out in the bathroom the whole time if it really bothers you.

I don't like them at all. I don't need anyone to squirt soap in my hand or hand me a paper towel. I am very capable. They are really not worth it IMO.
