Girls, I just got a blackberry yesterday, and I hooked up my personal email but GOD is it annoying! I get a lot of crap email and it all goess into that one message feed. Is there a way to have access to my personal yahoo email without having to hear my phone go off every 2 seconds? Like, I can just go in and check it when I want but not be alerted every time an email comes in? TIA

on the sound icon on the top on your left ... select all alerts off

No, I don't want all sounds off though, I still want txts and BBM's... I just don't want an alert every time I get an email

Click on profiles and put phone only or go to advanced and create an exception.

got it ... okay .. go to the Sounds icon on your home page ...
Then it should read 'Select a Sound Profile' Scroll alll the way down to 'Edit Profiles'
now modify the profile on your email...
for instance, pick Loud > Expand the Menu for Phone - Message > Select the emails you have setup on your phone > Press the Blackberry Option for Edit Menu > Change the Sound from there..

you can customize it and only have sounds go off for certain things. i have my personal and my work email hooked up to my bb, and it currently only alerts me if i get a phone call or a text msg, everything else i check when i have time.

Yeah that's what I want... I think I figured it out, but I have to wait now for emails to make sure it worked. Fingers crossed!! Thanks ladies!

I'm still getting audible notifications for my yahoo email Can't fgure it out cause I'm REETAHDEAD, I guess.
I made a custom profile, but that's not really what I want either, because then if I can't use the existing sound profiles. I just want the email notification to NEVER happen and I changed the volume for email notifications to silent and it's still happening. WTH?

I had the SAME problem with my gmail on my BB... I hated getting alerted everytime I got an email cause I get so many to that account.. What I did is deleted the connection.. and downloaded the gmail App.. yahoo has one too... You can basically go to their website from your phone and you can find an option to get an app for it... For mine, I just click on it and connect and it refreshes my email.. When I close it, it doesnt do anything... Its great.
yeah, it's yahoo I'm having an issue with and I want to add a gmail account too.... thanks for the tip, I'm gonna try that... I already deleted the yahoo acct from my phone so I could start over and I think this will suit my needs better. Thanks!
