We are considering having our wedding at the Patchogue Shores Community Center. It's located in a private community right in front of the beach. Do you think it would be tacky to have a BBQ reception?? I'm looking into caterers and a BBQ menu seems like the most affordable option. We will have our ceremony on the beach, so maybe we can just go for a more casual theme. What do you girls think?? Also looking for recommendations for affordable off-site caterers. Thanks!!

Re: BBQ Reception??
FH always said he wanted a 'Beer and a BBQ' reception... i think it is great, especially if you love a casual feel. (I still won't give in to him yet, though, lol)
Just make sure you have tents and stuff on hand for bad weather, and extra port-a-pottys if you need them!

Re: BBQ Reception??
Well it is an indoor building. Here's some pics. I'm sure it has bathrroms. I was thinking that they can cook outside and then it can be served inside buffet style
What about a clam boat? I think its more weddingish than a BBQ.

Re: BBQ Reception??
I had my day-after lunch at Tennessee Jack's BBQ restaurant in East Islip.
The food was AMAZING. I know they do catering on and off-site....

The Pavilion in Sunken Meadow is right on the beach too. You might want to check them out!

Re: BBQ Reception??
I think it is a great idea. I know Andrews catering has a whole BBQ set-up asnd the prices are very reasonable.

Re: BBQ Reception??
Thats exactly what I want to do too! I haven't started looking yet, but I know that Lessing's has an extensive BBQ menu, they also have Luau and clam bake menu's as well if you wanted to add anything like that on. They cater all over the place. I think a BBQ great idea and it will be SO much fun. Im sure tons of people would love a laid back BBQ wedding. Good luck!!!

Re: BBQ Reception??
Thanks!! I just needed some reassurance. I'll run it by my FH and see what he thinks. Thanks for the recommendations for catering. I'll look into pricing and menus. The clam boat would be a great idea but FH is allergic to shellfish, maybe we can add it on to the BBQ. Hmmm...sounds interesting a beach & BBQ wedding. It'll definately be a little different and much easier on our bank accounts.
