So, I get migraines, but, I don't think that they have anything to do with this.
I have noticed, very recently, that I get headaches right after I stop taking the pill (well, last pill Saturday, headaches Monday night - Tuesday) and I usually get my period on Tuesday.
I know that headaches are common w/ PMS, but, could they have anything to do with the pill? Or, is it just hormones/my period?
Anyone else ever experience this?
My head has been hurting since last night -- and nothing I take is helping.
ETA: Last pill Saturday, not Sunday.

Thanks -- I'm pretty sure it's hormones, too, and nothing to do with the pill, but, I just figured I'd throw it out there and get some opinions.

Re: BC - Headaches - and periods
This happens to me too. My last pill was Saturday and the headache started Sunday. I won't get my period until tomorrow so the headache probably won't go away until sometime Thursday and then the cramps will start.
Nothing I take really helps either and the worst part is it the feeling of the beginning of a migraine and then by 5:00 it almost full blown and then it starts all over again the next day.
I also get them the Sunday that I start my pack over again -- its like my body is going through a horomone withdrawl. That is how mine all started so that is how I knew it was horomone related.
I actually have a doctors appointment in a few weeks. It is a new doctor so I am going to talk to her about all this and see what she recommends. I have been on this pill for 5 years so I don't know if I need to switch it up or something, but I can't keep going through this every month.

I totally know what you mean ever since Sunday i've had it too. I don't know if its the weather or something else since AF ended on Sunday.
The last few months (since I started taking a new pill). I've been having terrible migraines. Sometimes its before, sometimes after, sometimes both.
I just want to go home and go back to bed right now.

Re: BC - Headaches - and periods
I stopped my pill on Wednesday and by Friday I had a headache that lasted all day and unfortunately that was the day my sister got married. I even took advil and that didn't seem to help.

Re: BC - Headaches - and periods
I'm actually starting a new pill next week. I'm going from Estro Step to Ortho Lo.
I got some free samples, and the DR said the two pills are relatively similar, so I can use the free samples, and then go back to Estro.
We'll see if it's the pill, I guess.

I am so glad I am not the only one. And we all seem to be going through it right now.
AmandaLynn let me know how the new pill works.
Catie: I get mine right before I am about to start the new pack -- I get it late Wednesday or early Thursday and then start again on Saturday -- Doc told me that was normal.

I find 3 motrin sometimes alivates them -- doesn't take them away fully but helps a little. Also, caffenine and Peanut Butter.

Re: BC - Headaches - and periods
Same here - 3 motrin, or advil.
I have mydol - the one specific to headaches.
I took 2 at 8ish, headache went away for a bit, and I took 2 more about 40 minutes ago - it's lessened a TINY bit, but, not much.
For some reason, caffiene doesn't help this type of headache, for me.
Vicodin does work, but, I have to go to work this afternoon, so, that's out.

Re: BC - Headaches - and periods
I believe it's just the pill. My doctor switched me to different pills trying to stop the headaches, well they never stopped. So finally after 5 years I stopped taking the pill no more headaches around my period. I still get migranes once in a blue moon, but i've gotten them since I was 5.

Re: BC - Headaches - and periods
I suffer from migraines and I also take the pill. I have been researching on teh internet and found that Calcium Magnesium pills taken 2-3x a day has been workimng for me. I spoke to my gyn about my migraines and he said that it could definitely be from the hormones. I noticed that my migraines came back when I didn't take my CalciumMagnesium pills. Believe me I know how much it hurts. You should take Excedrine Migraine when you go get it. I also recommend putting Mineral Ice where it hurt (temples, forehead). I do that when I am home and it helps. GOOD LUCK!
