BC - Headaches - and periods

Original post by AmandaLynn04

So, I get migraines, but, I don't think that they have anything to do with this.

I have noticed, very recently, that I get headaches right after I stop taking the pill (well, last pill Saturday, headaches Monday night - Tuesday) and I usually get my period on Tuesday.

I know that headaches are common w/ PMS, but, could they have anything to do with the pill? Or, is it just hormones/my period?

Anyone else ever experience this?

My head has been hurting since last night -- and nothing I take is helping.

ETA: Last pill Saturday, not Sunday.

I suffer from migraines and I also take the pill. I have been researching on teh internet and found that Calcium Magnesium pills taken 2-3x a day has been workimng for me. I spoke to my gyn about my migraines and he said that it could definitely be from the hormones. I noticed that my migraines came back when I didn't take my CalciumMagnesium pills. Believe me I know how much it hurts. You should take Excedrine Migraine when you go get it. I also recommend putting Mineral Ice where it hurt (temples, forehead). I do that when I am home and it helps. GOOD LUCK!

That's interesting. I might have to pick some of that up.

Do you follow the directions on the bottle, or do you take 2-3 because your doctor instructed you to?

Excedrine Migraine actually hasn't helped me. The only other thing that has ever really helped (besides narcotic pain killers) is Advil Cold and Sinus, which is a PITA to get now, because it's behind the counter.

I will definitely let you know!

I hope this headache goes away before I have to go to work tonight.

I find 3 motrin sometimes alivates them -- doesn't take them away fully but helps a little. Also, caffenine and Peanut Butter.

Peanut butter???

I looked it up on the internet beacuse I was tired of taking motrin, advil, and excedrine. You can get the Calcium Magnesium pills at a Vitamin shop or Duane Reade.

Probably has to do with the hormones of your body? Does your pill have the 'sugar' pills and do you take them? I think in some pills they contain iron- since you supposidly need more during your perioud. I get bloody noses the week before my period.. Very odd- but it's been happening since I was on the pill & my doc says it's normal...

I don't take the other pills - I guess I'll look into what they have in them, thanks!

Does the calcium magnesium interfer with the pill?

If you're willing to, I'd go off the pill for a few months and see if it's the pill.

Excellent. i always worry about that with pills and such.

Like the yaz says you should take motrin, advil etc every day as it will effect the pill.

So, while we're on the topic, I'm crampy, and I had a headache all day. On my lunch break, I went home and took a tylenol. I THINK I ACCIDENTALLY TOOK A TYLENOL PM! I'm literally falling asleep sitting up right now.

Advil Cold and Sinus is prescription now?
What about regular strength Excedrin? I'm not sure what the difference is in the pills, but I notice that the Migrane does nothing for my migranes, and the original works on cramps and is the only thing that works for my migranes...
