Be a Dear, Wrap in Clear?
I am going to a shower this weekend. Along with $$ i want to give crystal lenox candlestick holders. They come in a box - so how do I wrap this? In Cellophane? I think it will look stupid. Suggestions please.

Does the box have a picture or name of what is inside?

It has a small picture on the back, however its is more of an outline of what is inside, not the actual picture.

Were you instructed to wrap in cellophane? If you were, I think unfortunatey you don't really have an option other than that. People do it that way so they don't need to open the gifts. While it saves time and boredom, I think it is nice to open the gifts and at least acknowledge your guests who bought them for you.

Hmmm....I see. Well, you could always make a pretty label on the box and then wrap it in the clear cellephane. The bride-to-be would know what it is and it would look pretty and they would still be safe in the box. Or you could take them out of the box and put them in a pretty basket but I wouldnt being that theyre probably really nice candleholders.

maybe you could print out a picture of the item and put it in with the card?

Re: Be a Dear, Wrap in Clear?
I'm confused...why wouldn't you just wrap it in regular paper?

Some people request that you wrap the gifts in cellophane so that the bride doesn't have to unwrap the gift, and everyone can just see what was given.

Just take the box they come in and put it in a clear basket bag. Tie it with some pretty ribbon and if you want put some basket fill at the bottom of the bag.The Bride To Be will figure out what is in the box. And if she doesn't want to take the time to open gifts at her shower she will figure it out when she opens the boxes at home.

Me either. Opening the gifts is half the fun! Then why bother wrapping the gifts at all? And I'd much rather have to rip through paper than cellophane. Sounds like a lot of broken/chipped nails to me!

is there a request for clear wrapping paper?? I just heard about this too myself.... my sister recently went to a shower where the invite requested the clear wrapping paper specifically.

Re: Be a Dear, Wrap in Clear?
I heard about it through my colleague. She was throwing a shower for her friend and she was requesting that people wrap it in cellophane because she personally hates going to showers and watching people open gifts. I think it is a little cold to not acknowledge the gifts that people bought for you... Also, I think when requests are made like this it's typically the person throwing the shower who asks that of you, not the bride.

BOO! That takes all the fun out of the shower! I never heard of this - unless the bride is attending by proxy and she's like in Hong Kong and the shower is here

Re: Be a Dear, Wrap in Clear?
I personally would leave them in the box to protect them and wrap that in clear. It would be a shame if they broke. The box says Lenox, I'm sure they'll figure it out. I don't think they intended for everyone to take things out of the boxes.. like pots & pans, microwave, vaccuum... I'm sure stuff like that will still be in their boxes..I know you didn't ask for opinions on wrapping in clear, but I'm reeeaaly not a fan... guests put time, effort & $$$ into the gifts they give and seeing the bride open the gift is part of the fun... why bother wrapping in anything? May as well ask for gifts to be dropped off and not even bother having a shower... boo!
