Be brutally honest

Original post by NYtherapist

I need your opinion & won't be insulted. The first dress is the color I'm considering. The second photo is the dress I'm considering.

All opinions are welcome. If you think the color is tacky, say so (since that's my concern).

I really like the dress. I'm not so sure about the color though. I think I'd have to see it.

Re: Be brutally honest

First of all, thanks to everyone for the honest responses.

Second of all, let me share with you that I'm slowly going insane.

I initially chose a Bill Levkoff dress. My problem is that I don't like the colors his dresses come in.

I love the dress the way it is, but I am not willing to use ivory for my BM dresses. The dress comes in blue (akin to conrflower). I really have a specific idea about flower colors which is what's making color selection difficult.

I want my bouquet to be made up of either solely hot pink roses, or a combination of pinks, or hot pink w/ white. That flower combo makes it difficult for me to select dresses for my BMs.

Keep the advice/opinions flowing.

I think it's lovely.....do all your BM like the dress/look good in it/are comfortable in it?

I love the color and style of the first dress..very pretty. I've tried on the second dress and was not impressed (with it on me)..Both my friend and I considered it for our weddings.

Good luck

You should go see the dress and the color in person, if you haven't already. At first I was considering a bold pink color for my July 05 wedding. Then I actually saw the color in person and thought better of it. Go see it, try it on, and if then you still love it, go for it!

See, I'm not totally comfortable with the color. It's very loud and I worry that it will look trashy.

I tried the dress on this afternoon and loved it. The thing is, I'm petite. I really need to see it on at least a couple of my girls.

I was able to see the raspberry color (in a different style dress) and it scared me a little. The problem is that it seems to be the only color dress that will work with the colors I envision.

I started thinking about getting the dress in black with a pink sash, but I'm not sure how I feel about black dresses (even though that's what I intially wanted).

I think the color is absolutely stunning! I know someone who got married last July and used that color. All her Bm's carried gerber daisies in that color and tangerine and yellow. It looked amazing!

I was at a wedding this summer that had that color (or something similar) and it was gorgeous!

I LOVE that color, it is perfect for a summer wedding. I am thinking about doing the color Papaya for my dresses from Jim Hjelm. I love a vibrant color, I am going to have bright pink flowers with the orange, I love orange and pink together. I am probably going to do separates and let the girls pick the tops.

I don't think you have to go with this color just because you want hot pink roses in your bouquet. There are lots of colors that hot pink would compliment... Sage, deep champange, etc. The hot pink is just going to accent the other colors if you choose not to go with it.

I have always loved that dress, and I think the color is going to look great!

I had the exact same problem - my initial gut choice was to choose black because it flatters everyone. When all my girls thought black was boring - I wanted that color!!! but when they saw that color - they complained too! (well 2 of them!) so back to black it is!
if your girls don't give you grief - or if you don't care - and if it doesn't look bad on them - you should go for it!
good luck!

I like the color, but I don't love it. But at the end of the day, I don't have to wear it and it's not my wedding. If you love it, and your girls will be happy with it, than I say go for it!

I'm using that color for my bridesmaids this summer... At first I thought it might be too bright, but with a tan it will look great! And its summer, so the color fits right in!!
