I just wanted to let all know to be careful about what you write because I posted something I should not have and the vendor called me!!! ( I will not name names sorry) They traced me back by my profile.

Re: Be careful

Re: Be careful

No it was not about price , it was something that was said to me and then they changed there minds after I posted it, I was told it was complementary what I wrote, but this vendor was upset I wrote it and made me feel like a fool. I am so up in the air about what to do. HELP!!!

Re: Be careful

Is it a vendor you hired? If not, I think this is a semiopen forum and if we have bad experiences than we should be able to post them. Otherwise the board becomes useless.

If it IS your vendor...than s/he should be nothing but professional! If they do a shoddy job, they will know that you will report it here...

Re: Be careful

I am sorry that this vendor made you feel like a fool. I know that vendors read the 'brides helping brides' section, but as we have discussed before, they should do so in a 'hand's off'manner. I think that actually tracing your comments to your profile and contacting you is way out of line. If whatever it is that you posted about was 'complementary' than why should you not post about it? The vendor in question should have made it clear if whatever it was you posted about was not to be public knowledge.
I regard this board as a forum for us to share our ideas, experiences, vents etc. in an open and honest manner. That is one of the reasons why I love this board so much - I feel like I can get the 'real deal.' I am sorry that you had this experience and I hope that it does not change your mind about posting what you feel.

Re: Be careful

They were out of line! If you posted something they told you, you did nothing wrong. I am so sorry that they made you feel foolish. I don't know what I would do. Do you still feel comfortable using this vendor? If you don't, get your money back and find a vendor who is less wishy-washy and more upfront. We all post things the vendors tell us. That is part of sharing our experiences. You should be able to rely on their representations and not worry that they might they change their mind after telling you something.

I would think long and hard about this vendor. You edited your post so I don't know what you wrote, but I would GO OFF if one of my vendors did that. Please feel free to continue to post honestly on this board. That is what it is here for!

Re: Be careful

That is unbelievable and unprofessional!!

To all vendors reading this post --> 'Word of Mouth' has always been an accepted and honored practice of building a clientele for any business. To try to draw an artifical distinction between private verbal comments between friends and neighbors and written comments shared across an electronic medium is absolutely ridiculous!

I would echo the comments made by previous posters --> you are listening to private conversations. If you wish to use the women who use these boards as your own private 'focus group' so be it. You will most likely hear positive and negative comments from time to time. Instead of 'shooting the messenger' you should have instead investigated the claim internally and made any necessary adjustments. Promote/reward employees brides praise and work to improve the performance of others whose work we have found unsatisfactory or adapt your policies to better meet the needs of the brides whose business you wish to attract --> and be thankful for the unbiased information you receive! These posts don't stay accessible forever and new brides join these chat sessions every day. If one brides has found fault with your work, decide whether this is an isolated or endemic problem and react in whatever way you'd prefer.

Personally I would like to thank all of the brides on this board whose comments have helped me choose and avoid vendors. I know how valuable the information given to me has been and I have and will continue to provide my opinions on the vendors and products I have choosen.

To all of you vendors out there --> My screen name isn't an alias. Feel free to look me up any time. I won't be intimidated. But 'mystery vendor' (who is only remaining unnamed because that is the preference of the bride that started this post) think about this --> if you put half as much energy into meeting the needs of the clients you claim to serve as you did tracking down their personal information, maybe when you visit these boards you'd read positive things about yourself and gasp! win new business via free advertising.

Re: Be careful

I feel alot better that I have the support that I have gotten from this board. I still do not know what to do because the vendor plays a big role in my wedding day. UGH! I am so fustrated!!!

Re: Be careful

I had a similiar experience with a posting being read by a vendor. I remarked how prices had increased dramtically (doubled) since I had booked and the salon got slammed with phone calls about the rate hike.

They made it seem like my fault they raised the prices!

This board is awesome but its also dangerous. If you post about a vendor you love and are probably going to book, and they read it - there goes your negotiating power.

It would almost be better if there was some kind of secure log in - allowed for verified brides only. Then we wouldn't have to deal with vendors reading things that weren't intended for them and we wouldn't have to deal with the fake brides.

Susanlynn- don't worry about the vendor on your wedding day. They have a reputation to uphold. I read through your previous posts (though they're the edited version now) and I can't imagine what you could have written about them that would cause such a problem (I won't mention names since you didn't want to). Its unfortunate they made you feel this way, but you probably won't deal at all with the particular person who called on your big day and everything will be wonderful.

Re: Be careful

Susan - its so hard to advise without the details but I would say follow your gut feeling. If you think this vendor won't do an absolutely fabulous job NO MATTER WHAT - find someone else. Peace of mind is worth whatever aggravation the switch might cause.

I will add that I have raved about several of my vendors. On occassion, I have quoted the wrong price or something. If my vendor saw the post, they have emailed me informing me of the change in the most professional and polite way possible. More to clear up any confusion that to correct me. A good vendor knows how to communicate.

Re: Be careful

I did not say anything bad about the particular vendor, they said I praised them and then they scolded me like a little kid!!! I did not know what to do, so I edited my post. I am so angry that this happened. Now i want to know, should I call the management of the vendor and ask them what they are going to do in regard to making me feel like a fool? They told me I gave them good publicity. I did not even bring up a money issue.

susanlynn,
i have been following this post, but now i am totally confused, why did they scold you if you wrote something positive about them?

Re: Be careful

This doesnt make sense if you were given them good publicity why would that bothered them.

I cant believe they called you about this board, that is so lame. I would definitely complain to upper management.

Good luck, sorry they made you feel so bad.

Re: Be careful

Nina:
Apparently they only give out free things to certain brides and grooms, which I think is so discriminatory it is sick in the head. They liked my letter but not the fact that they do not give out free stuff to all, and they were flooded with calls. They did not like the idea that I wrote that we had something free EVEN THOUGH WE WERE TOLD ALL BRIDES AND GROOMS GET THIS!!!!!

Re: Be careful

I'm copnfused too and I would definitely call a manager.

There is no reason for them to make you feel foolish about a positive post and if you had a negative thing to say about them then they have the option of discussing your disappointment in that service or experience in a professional manner as Sonicstef stated.

Re: Be careful

Well I should be getting a phone call too since I was the one that said to complain!! I am sooooo sorry susanlynn that this has happened because it is partially my fault on mentioning to complain. If I get a call, I will tell them a thing or two on your behalf Then I will put my two sense in!

I agree with susanlynn's response on they deliver the particular service on a case by case basis. I was told the same thing but not the way they mentioned it to her. The person I spoke with handled the question in a professional manner. I am very curious to know who spoke with you susanlynn.

There are more brides on this board that are using the same vendor that we don't know about! Which is very shady business.... for all of you out there. One person complains on the board about it and the vendor gets flooded with calls about the same issue?!?!??!

Re: Be careful

I JUSY WANTED TO LET EVERYONE KNOW THAT THE VENDOR IS NOT ON THIS WEBSITE. I APPRECIATE ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT, THANK YOU!

Re: Be careful

Susan I know who it is. I was one of the brides that went there and asked how come we were not treated as lovely as you were. I am sorry if it caused a problem, but if this is supposed to be open to all brides and groom what is the problem??? I think if it goes for one it goes for all. I don't think it was right that they called and made you feel bad. Now that I think about it, that's plain wrong.

Susan, you have enough time to change your mind from Chateau. They will not screw with you b/c of this, they have a reputation to uphold, so if you are still happy with them stay, if you are uncomfortable go elsewhere.

Take care and happy planning
