Let me start by saying that our wedding day was the MOST amazing day ever! I think maybe this incident is the 'what went wrong' part. Basically what happened was that our money card holder box was broken into and some whole envelopes and some money out of others were taken. The mistake was that the person who was collecting the cards/envelopes left the box in the bridal suite after the ceremony. He (as well as all of us) were told that the bridal suite would be closed/locked at ALL times. We were told that only our bridal attendant had the keys to the room. A couple of my bridal party members went into the room to get stuff and found the door unlocked and open! But at the time we were all too caught up in the wedding that we didn't realize! We didn't know what had happened until the night was over and my sister-in-law opened the box to put in her card and saw that there were envelopes that looked like they were ripped open. She called to ask if we had taken some money out already.
Girls! Please be careful! Make sure that you have someone you trust and knows what to do taking care of stuff like this! We asked my cousin to do it and it was his first time doing it. He didn't know what to do with the box afterwards and felt that the bridal suite would be the safest and smartest place to leave it! We don't blame him! Hubby and i should have realized it but like i said we were so caught up with the wedding! I'm posting this so that others can learn from our mistakes and happenings! Isn't this what this forum is about?! We were really upset and disturbed when we found out but we came to terms with it. It was a lesson learned! We called the RH the day after to let our banquet manager know what happened and what we got was basically that it was our fault for leaving it there. True but i feel like they were wrong to tell us that it would be locked at all times! He then let us know that a couple of people have access to the room with keys and all! We have our suspects in mind but no evidence to prove it...
Sorry so long but i wanted to share our mishap and let everyone know to enjoy the day but be alert and cautious too!

oh im so sorry that happened. That's weird that anybody other then the maitre d or the bridal attendant would have the keys. Gifts and pocket books and such are supposed to be left in the bridal suite... otherwise wat is for?? the RH deffinately messed up there.. not your fault at all.

I have also heard of cards going missing from the men's jackets hanging on the back of chairs or off the tables. Very scary. I built my box, so it has to be rippedopen to get into it!!! It will be on display behind my table and will go home with me!!! It is also made out of 11X14 frames, so it's not exactly small!!! So sorry that happened to you

I'm so sorry this happened to you guys!!!! It's horrible that people would do this Our box will have to be ripped open to get the envelopes, so I hope this won't happen to us

So sorry!! Thats a reason why we made sure to use a card box that has only one slit and the only way to get the envelopes out of the box would be to rip the entire box apart. Ive heard so many of these stories!
I had a slit on the top too but stupid me forgot to tape the lid to the box shut!

OMG FH's best friend got married at Terrace on the Park last summer (also in July) and the BM's handbags were all STOLEN from the bridal suite!!!!! seriously I've heard that TOTP has some jerky staff, but this is ridiculous, they SERIOUSLY need to figure out which staff worked their wedding last year and yours......they should interrogate them and FIRE THEM promptly!!! there are probably a lot more brides that this has happened to, but they're just not on LIW to post about it. FH's best friends wedding was 7/28/06.....tell them you know it also happened that night b/c a friend of a friend had the same problem. They need to take responsibility for their staff. I'm so very sorry this happened to you, but that is disgusting that they would tell you it's your fault for leaving it in the bridal suite!!!

I am so sorry that happened to you!
At my daughter's wedding I asked to be let into the 'locked' suite for my camera, my lipstick, etc. In BOTH instances, I went downstairs with the security person, and the door was wide open, no one in there. Perhaps a BM was let in and did not close the door when she left, but this happened twice, and no one noticed.
Thankfully, nothing of real value was in the suite, and nothing has been reported missing.
But brides, please do not put much faith in the promise 'the suite is kept locked at all times' Ours was not, and I would caution everyone to not rely on that promise, and keep your valuables in sight, or locked in someone's car if necessary.

I'm so sorry to hear about that. I hope you've reported this to the police.
Worrying about something like that is why we didn't have a card box. There was no obvious temptation for anyone, because I'd heard too many sad stories of couples being ripped off on their wedding day.

i'm almost tempted to buy a mini safe and keep it in the bridal suite..
i was a BM once and someone stole our boqs out of the bridal suite! they'll take anything i guess!
i'm not doing the card box.. we will have a box but it will be on our table and be used only for storing.. so people will have to hand us cards...
be careful with the bird cages too!! things can easily come out!

I'm sorry this had to happen to you on your wedding day. My Hall also told me that the bridal suite would be locked up. To my surprise, it wasn't during the night. The only reason I found out was because I went to change into my chinese dress during the night to find the door unlocked. Luckily, we had place our card box next to us near the sweetheart table where the cake is. This way I have 200 pair of eyes to guard it. I hope the loss wasn't too significant. I can't believe anyone would actually take such a shameful action during a wedding celebration.

That's really awful, thank you for the heads up. I'm not really sure what we will do, I don't want to spend my wedding worrying about getting ripped off.

Thats just absolutely horrible. I am so sorry for this. This is why I give checks as gives so that you never have to worry about things like this happening. I was thinking of making a card box but after reading this I might just stick with the bag and keep it with me at all times.
I am so sorry for this happening to you the RH should have stepped up and did something to accommodate you but thank you for giving us the heads up.

I'm really sorry to hear about this! We had a bag and my grandmother who doesn't dance had it with her at all times.
I'm not surprised about the reaction of TOTP. Once they have your money they really don't care about their brides at all. It's a shame because the place looks so nice, but I wouldn't recommend them.

Wow, that's insane. I'm sorry that you had gone through this. I'm paranoid about things like this. I'm always thinking of the worst scenario. For now I only bought a money bag and will need to figure out who will be in charge of watching it. It will probably be my dad.
