Be careful what you take to heart here on LIW

i have gone back and forth about posting this for a while now and since it is still bothering me a month later i decided that i will post. for those of you that are regulars on the board, you may notice that i post on occasion and never try and stir up trouble... so i hope not to do so now - but this has really been bothering me.

as you can tell, by reading my profile, i am getting married at the harbor club in huntington. with all of the happenings around the selling of john anthonys - of course the harbor clubs name was going to be mentioned... and it was .. particularly by someone who used to post here under the screen name joeysbaby. on several occasions, she had said that the harbor club was going to be sold for condos and other various reasons why people should not have their weddings there.

of course, as a realistic person i know that everyone is going to have different opinions about the place where i will be getting married and i am open to hear both the good and bad. but i thought it was odd that one particular person  was always the one saying the negative comments.

i even called over to my reception hall and asked about the rumors about the harbor club being sold for condos.... i was told that they were just that - rumors and not to be concerned - more research eventually revealed that joeysbaby was actually someone who had once worked for the harbor club and now worked for a different catering hall (which she was promoting as a bride)... im not even sure if she was actually getting married or just posing as a bride to promote her catering hall's  business.

my thing is - i am sure that there are other vendors on here posing as brides promoting their businesses - and although i do not necessarily agree with that - i feel as long as they are not hurting anyone that is there own prerogative - what i found exceptionally hurtful about what joeysbaby was doing was that she was not only promoting her own business but making untrue statements and even lies about other places so that she could promote hers. i was actually in tears thinking that the place that i was going to get married at was going to be ripped down for condos - i believed her!

so why do i tell everyone this now - i love this site and have gotten both useful and creative ideas that i will be incorporating into my own wedding. And because of this i want the girls on here to know that not everyone is a bride on here and to be careful about what you take to heart because not everyone has the best intentions in mind..... there are some people on here posing as brides

WHEW!!! That was deep! I have to agree with you! I KNOW FOR A FACT that there are vendors on here. Take everything with a grain of salt girls!

Someone posted that the receptionist at my Video place was a real nasty person. Let's just say that my video place has no receptionist!!!

I am glad you sorted your rumors out and are confident once again!!!

i'm sorry this happened to you. Alot of girls on here have had experiences with vendors posing as brides. We do have to be on the lookout.

However, these experiences have caused some people to call out newbies on here as vendors and start fights. It has gotten tense on this subject, but I do think we need to keep an eye out.

Good detective work in figuring it out!

Maybe LIW can hire me as a consultant. Ha ha ha.

But yeah... i am sure there are plenty of vendors here.

I am glad that you had the where-with-all to take the negaticity with a grain of salt. I am a real bride & I really got married at the Harbor CLub & I LOVED IT!

I wonder who that former employee is though....there was a bit of a staff change since I booked my wedding????

I just wanted to tell you to not let what other people say here upset you so much. I know its easier said than done since I have gotten upset myself in the past.
But as far as your hall goes, the only people you need to listen to is the people that work there now. There have been some rumors flying around about Chateau Briand in the past and when I went there to make a payment and asked them if things were true or not, they looked at me like I was crazy and immediately squashed the rumor.
Of course there are people on here that are going to pose as brides - we cant help that. Some people have nothing better to do. Hey Id love to call clients at MY former job and diss that workplace too but I have better things to do. Trust your gut, trust your hall would communicate anything different to you and tell you the truth if you asked.

It's kinda funny that a few of us called that same person out on their 'EXTREME LOYALTY' to some vendors in the past and I think its hilarious that it was all true...But for you , not so faunn.y

I also wanted to say one of my BM's got married last year at the ahrbor club, and I have always said it was one of the very best weddings I have ever been to! The place is beautiful inside and the staff was great! I loved it!

I am sorry. If there is a negative comment about your place, just ignore it. Try to forget about it. Its not worth stressing over what some nobody posted on this board. Im sure its a great place, don't worry It could have very well been a vendor.

I went to a wedding at harbor club and thought it was fantastic. That is a shame about joeysbaby. This person also continuously promotes leli photo and video and leli headpieces so she is either a leli worker or gets paid by them. I don't think these people understand the more they promote vendors the more we realize they are fake and would NEVER use that vendor. I am so glad you found out the truth and are feeling better. You are going to have a beautiful wedding!
