Does anyone know of any nice beaches in Montauk or the Hamptons that will accomodate a wedding in August? I originally wanted to go 'away' for a beach wedding; however, my fiance said that it was rude to ask people to travel - and that most probably wouldn't come anyway. Anway, I am not attempting to find out about a beach wedding here, on LI. I would be interested in the wedding, a place if it happens to rain and something simple as far as entertainment (maybe steel drum band or something like that).

Atlantica out in the Hamptons is right on the beach and it is beautiful.

Re: Beach Wedding
Gurney's in Montauk is a little less expensive than Atlantica, I believe. Also, not sure how many people you are having, but Dockers on Dune rd in West Hampton is very pretty, but casual (they've redone the whole thing). Probably couldn't accomodate more than 100 - maybe more if you set up a tent.
Or, the East hampton Pointe?? Not sure about prices there though.

Another vote for the Atlantica located in the Westhampton Tennis & Beach Club. I think that's the club's name! But definatly check out the Atlantica!

Re: Beach Wedding
I don't actually want the hall 'thing'. I simply want to have the wedding on the beach - and then have something to 'run to' if it rains. I'd even like to have a bbq (or something similar) on the beach. I don't want the whole hall thing and all it entails.

Re: Beach Wedding
You can have your reception on the beach in Sag Harbor, Montauk or East Hampton, I'm sure. However, its a tent set-up only and if it rains there's no back up. You'll have to get everything catered and bring in all plates, linens, chairs etc etc. Most places 'on the beach' are not set up to have an entire outdoor reception (trust me, I looked). The only way I found to do this was to have a tent and pray for good weather. At Atlantica you have the cocktail hour on the deck outside and that bar remains open.

Re: Beach Wedding
check out smiths point. they do weddings there. but i dont think they will allow you to have a bbq on the beach. i went down the same road you did when trying to plan -- searching for a beach -- we wound up booking a hall. GOOD LUCK
Also check out The Pavillion at Sunken Meadow. They have a catering hall right on the boardwalk at Sunken Meadow park. They can do the ceremony in the sand. But I think the party needs to be over by sunset.

Re: Beach Wedding
the crow's nest inn in Montauk does an inexpensive clam bake / BBQ and I believe they have facilities in case of rain. Its not really on the beach though - its on a lake.
