Not sure what kind of beads you are looking for but I know there is this one great store to get beads and such primarily for jewelry making located on the east side of the street on 6th Avenue around 40-38th Street.

If you take start at Herald Square and walk North on 6th Ave you will find a few bead places on the East side of 6th :)

They just opened a place right in my building called Bead world it is on Broadway between 37th and 38th

Designer's Mart, at 1180 Broadway (28th and 29th streets) 212-779-9888. There they sold fairly large bags of seed beads for $5 each, or smaller strands (imagine a necklace with 5-6 seed bead strands) for like $2.50

The store in the 30's on Bway or 6th are more expensive, I think.
