Bear Cub gets her ears pierced and the drama (and trauma) it entailed!

Original post by bearsbabe_113

Alrighty, my little bear cub has her ears pierced!!!! And might I add how adorable she looks -- not to mention how Italian she looks!!!

Now here's the story.....

We had a 5:30 appt and I told Joe that I was leaving here by 4:45 to meet him in front of the dr's office. Well, I held up my end of the bargain, WHERE THE HELL WAS HE? I get off the train, get a cup of coffee and walk the 2 blocks to the dr. I call him on his cell phone and nobody answers -- ok, he's driving, and since he has a stick and no hands-free, he can't answer. Yeah sure.

He doesn't answer because HE'S NOT IN THE FRIGGIN CAR AT THAT TIME. Where is he? STILL HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He calls me back -- mind you, it's 5:15 now -- and tells me he 'just' got on the BQE and 'should' be there in 10 minutes. HELLO, did you ever hear of the word RUSH HOUR? So, I very calmly, ask him 'can I ask you why you're leaving now when I left work early to meet you?' and he tells me that he would've been on time if his grandmother didn't 'insist' on changing her clothes at the last minute!

Excuse me, but ARE YOU NOT THE BABY'S FATHER!!! DO YOU NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO PUT YOUR FOOT DOWN AND TELL HER NO??!!! Obviously not (not to the baby's father, but to the rest! We all know she's the clone of him, so there's no denying that fact! )

So, I continue to stand outside like the big chooch I looked like. Thank God it wasn't that cold out. Why didn't I go inside? Because the parking suck$ over there (all my Astoria/Queens girls will relate) and I had to be outside to take the baby from him so he could park.

Ok, he finally shows up at 5:35 and I take Gianna and go inside. He comes in right before we get called and tells me the story of her clothes. He's insisting that I didn't leave the clothes for Nanny to change her into and I told him that I put them in the diaper bag along with everything else. How come nobody pays any attention to me?

And now we're called in.... Joe looked like he was going to throw up, but he didn't. Thank God! Before we do the ear thing, I tell the dr about the pooping and she said to bring in a sample and that it's probably her teeth. Ok, now the male dr. comes in (he's the one who does the piercing) and I told him that she had some wax. So they take the wax out and Gianna STARTS SCREAMING AS IF SHE'S BEING SLAUGHTERED!!!!

And then they have to put drops in and SHE'S SCREAMING EVEN MORE!!!! All the while I'm talking to her and rubbing her legs and trying to calm her down. And then there's Joe, GRABBING MY COAT!!!! I pick my poor baby up and she's crying, REAL TEARS, and holding on to me FOR DEAR LIFE!!! I felt horrible.

Now it's time for the earrings -- oh God! She is SCREAMING, turning PURPLE and I have to hold down her legs!!! I swear, I felt like the meanest mother in the world at this point!!!

What's Joe doing? Standing behind me GRABBING MY ARMS AND SQUEEZING!!!! Between the small room, the fact that I was friggin sweat my a$$ off w/the heat and the stress, I felt like I was going to have a nervous breakdown!!!! Joe tells me to pick her up and I do and she's holding on to me and I'm trying to calm her down and he goes to me 'let me see her', so he sticks his face in hers and goes 'Hi Little Mama, it's ok' and I didn't know whether to laugh or cry!!!

We finally got out of there and she was MUCH better while I got her dressed. I think she was so traumatized that she didn't even utter so much as a whimper while I put her jacket on and that usually brings much yelling!!! I got her to smile in the car.

As for Joe, he was very quiet and not himself the ride home. I think both he and Gianna were in SHOCK!!!!

OMG, the stress!!!!

As for pictures, I did get her to take 2 when I got home. I'll bring them to my MIL's and scan them next week when I go.

My poor little Bear Cub!!!! She looks so pretty though!!!

Thanks Marcela!! I just called the dr and she said she thinks it's from her teeth, but wants me to bring in a dirty diaper to take a sample of!! Icky poo (get it? )

Oh TGIF, it's been one heck of a long week!! And this is the first time since I've been back that I actually worked the whole entire week. That's why I'm not being productive -- I'm on strike!!!

Deb, Niha ...

Someone told me recently that I should have Maria's ears pierced now & not wait until she was older, but they said that I wouldn't really HURT. This sound like it was bad!! After her first round of shots & THAT trauma, I don't know if I could do it.

What do you think? Her Christening is in Feb & I thought it might be ok to do it then ... also will she be old enough?

I've heard the same about doing it early (3 months and up), or waiting until she is much older. I think it has something to do with the lobes not being sensitized yet or something. My friend's baby is almost 7 months old and did not cry AT ALL last week when she had hers done!!! Like I said, Lyla cried just when they did it for a few seconds, but not nearly as much as she did with the shots.

In my culture, we do it pretty early, my sister and I have had our ears pierced as long as we can remember. I know that a lot of people associate it with being grown up, or being allowed to wear makeup, but I don't see it like that.
