Thank you all so much for the compliments!!! To all those who asked I wish I could say that we did everything ourselves, but we didn't. Gene is handy, but there was just too much for him to do by himself and no one lets me anywhere near tools. Let's just say that I am home improvement impaired!!!

Most of the honor for the work goes to my contractor who I have spent more time with in the past year than my husband...okay not that much but it was a lot!!! This past year we redid our kitchen, master bath, main floor bath and our attic area and he was involved in all of them. We had only planned the kitchen and master bath renovations, but water damage and major pipe problems in the main bathroom walls necessitated more work. So we decided to do the attic room too. Gene had been wanting to do it since before we met, but never did. No time like the present!!

We did do all of the painting and all of the stain work ourselves so I will take credit for that.

I have to say that even without doing the actual work ourselves there is so much involved in home improvements that I feel like I did do all the work!!! Very stressful having your house torn apart let me tell you.

Jamie, Gene knows it's not his storage room anymore, believe me. Those before pics are the after of the room cleaned out!!!

You couldn't even walk through it before.

I would share my closet with you if I could. For the past 2 years my clothes have been stuffed into 1/2 of the closet in my son's room!! I had to iron every day before I could wear something.

On top of that my son's room is on the first floor and we are on the second. So I had to schlep downstairs every morning to get my clothes. The closet in our room is only big enough for one person's clothes and Gene was here first

. But this closet is all mine!!! I earned it!!!!

Trish it does feel good. Now it's just a matter of decorating. Although that is stressful to me!!

Don't worry. Yours will get done. And you are doing the work yourself if I remember correctly. I think that has to be much harder. Once you are done you will have an even great sense of accomplishment and enjoyment I have no doubt.

Thanks again ladies. I will definately post pics once it's totally finished. We bought a futon yesterday so that's a start.

Rachel the floor is Bruce prefinished solid oak flooring. It's an instant transformation..once it's installed it's completely usable. You can walk on it, put furniture on it etc. It also has a longer life than flooring that is put down and then finished. It took the floor guys about 5 hours to install it. I love it!
