did you pay off all credit card debt? I am trying my hardest to pay them all off before we sell our condo, but is it necessary to have no credit debt?

Re: Before buying your house
We both didn't have any credit card debt.. i actually didn't have any just before we got engaged, I would try my hardest to pay it off.. don't get to upset if it's only alittle, but a lot would worry me..

That's what we're in the process of doing.

we never had any credit card debt. We have student loan debt, but thats a different story.
Paying off credit cards is always a good idea. It would also improve your debt to income ratio. But I don't think its necessary.

if it makes you feel any better, i had HUGE (over 50k) open balance on my credit report from a credit card company and we were approved for a jumbo loan w/ NO problems. i only found out recently about the debt and it is not mine but the mortgage company NEVER questioned it. they just said i should pay off the balance. i cleared it up the w/ the credit card company today and it will reflect on may's credit report.
